I have played the game for several weeks. If you like casting spells  from a deck of spells that slowly changes ...over and over and over again this is your game...Want crafting...nope...housing...not yet....AH...nope....trading items among players...not hardly....want a very linear progression in a higly restricted space....you'll find it here.

I would reccomend this game.

I thought it was fun as hellwith a pretty different set up than normal MMO's.  It isn't the game to go to if you want to raid or pvp, but for something to play casually for fun?  Great game.

Agreed. I think the OP missed the point of this game.

So,it's not for you. There are definitely things, as an adult, I'd like to see added to the game (linky...), but it's great at what it is, which is a fun, safe  family-friendly game with a surprisingly deep amount of combat strategy, especially as you level up.  Also, the dev team is pretty dedicated from what I can see.  Player housing is coming and I'm pretty sure there are other interesting features in the works, too.

Hopefully you find something you like better.  Personally, I'd definitely recommend Wizard101.

p.s. Wizard101 PvP can be really fun, too.

The irony is that that first sentence is a reccomendation in itself.

"several weeks"?
Many games on the market have have far less replayability than that.  Some have player retention measured in hours.
Any game that can keep a player interested for weeks can't be all bad.

I tried playing Real Life but the graphics sucked, the community was annoying too.

It's a great game for kids, families or those new to MMORPGs.  My boys love it and I play with them, so it's a family thing.  I recommend it.

The game is... attractive. Colorfull, blinky, cute, collectible, safe.

The combat is shallow and there is not much more to it than that. Also percents of percents of hundreds do not strike me as particulary kid friendly.

Machines with blinking lights, false interactivity and random drops belong to Vegas.

I agree that it can become a bit monotonous at times, but what game doesn't do that?  Overall, I find it to be a pretty chill and entertaining game with a unique combination of RPG and turn-based card battling.  Many times I have seen people claim it to be a "Toontown Ripoff", but I truly think those people must have never even played the game because the only real similarities are that it is cartoony and geared to a younger audience (though W101 is a bit more mature in complexity).

I like the game.  I'm an adult and have been playing games since before there were computers.

I find the story amusing with lots of humor and little snippets from books and other movies.  Great fun!  The combat system being cards is both simple and complex.  Especially as you level up and get more and more choices of cards.  Building out your spell deck becomes more and more important.  Some games rely on player reflex skills but this game relies on player thinking skills.  PvP is a lot of fun also.  Will it get boring in the future?  Maybe but so far I'm lvl 16 and having a great time.  I love the itemization too.  I'm always getting some cool new item that enhances my character and gives me a cool look.

I like the game too.  The card based combat is really a refreshing change of pace from most MMOs, and has surprising depth at higher levels.  It's a good bargain, at current prices you could buy permanent access to the whole game for around $60.  I've been playing for a few months now and I think I've spent about $15 total unlocking zones.  And the housing system that just went in is pretty good.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

If you have only spent $15 you are not progressing very fast...  I burned through $10 just starting the second tier area in less then 10 days.  That was only from unlocking areas.  Since the higher the level of the area I'm unlocking it seems like the cost is going up I'm not even sure that $15 would get you through all of the second tier?

What lvl are you and how far into the game are you?

For my part, having spent over 24hour of play, i would recommend this game.

I had to let it go because i was seeing my life pass by to quickly in times where i needed to get some things done.

Nonetheless, it's a great game.

I'm having fun with it. I play it with my grandson. Can't think of very many other MMO's that we could do together ...

I would highly reccomend this game. I would also reccomend it over Free Realms and ToonTown. Wizards 101 held my interest and the interest of my kids (9 & 11) much longer than Realms or TT did.

I still think it's funny.

Everything he claims is bad about the game by not being in it, is coming out in the next major update. (For the most part).

I found that quite amusing if I do say so. Either way, his opinion will more than likely not be changed by those being in the game, it's just a general rule of thumb.

I don't think I would recomment it either. One comment is more than I need really. Sometimes recommenting is...oh, wait, nevermind.

This is a damned fun game, mostly because I love collectible card games and this one actually brings them to life. Later in the game, spell deck strategies become far more interesting too.

Also, it deftly skates around typical MMO crap like gold spambots, tons of asinine cursing, and long travel times/delays.

Kudos.

I would recommend this game for any kid.  My 8 year old has a great time playing this game and has progress quite far with little to no help from me (his death school toon is lvl 31).  He even tries to help mentor new players on the game.  Great family friendly game.

Sort of yes,and the fun factor wears out eventually because the game does not encorporate anything new or any changes from level 1 to the end.So the fun wears out depending on how long each individual can stand doing the same thing over and over.

Every game out there is monatonaous, but most of the better games give you new abilities, spells, armour, weapons.Other than the top of the line gear, all else is a waste of time and the seldom gained new cards are rare and do not happen often enough. As a matter of fact i found many of the highest cards were weaker than cards players attained at lower levels,so the game needs a lot of updating and revamping.

Concept=8-9/10 but the way it was implemented get very old very fast, from quests to game play.Of course the age group was VERY young kids, and i think most agree, the simplistic game play may fool or keep them entertained longer than people that expect a slight challenge or a tad of thinking. You would be surprised how many young kids could have their limits pushed FAR beyond the scope of this game.

I would rate it not only a sub 10 year old game, but for those sub 10 years olds that are slow learners, small attention spans. The brighter sub 10 year olds would even get bored of this game and demand a LOT more.

The chat filter is IMO done very well, because the game is geared to a very yound crowd, that is one area i think should be left alone forever, even though i know they stated the ymight think about lowering restrictions.

Agree 100%.  This is really a kids game and it's nice not to have to supervise my kids playtime because of adults inappropriate chat.  There are plenty of MMOs out there for adults.  Let the kids have this one and not ruin it.

To me, the addition of the new 18+ chat is perfect- kids use the menu based chat that lets them get the point across in a simple way and not have to deal with "wide open" chat, and adults can use the grown up chat version to talk relatively freely (with no profanity of course) and the kids don't see it.

I disagree.
If you think that then please do this (It will cost you your time that is all.)

Get a free account.
Create two toons - 1 x Storm School + 1 x Life School.
Play them both to level 9 and do Golem Tower with them both.
You cannot fail to notice the difference.
The strategy you use for each is totally different.

As for percentages - when would you suggest children get an introduction to chance and probability?
It's part of mathematics.
