So I still routinely play UO and EVE. Lately though i've decided to take a break from these two and I am trying out both DFUW and Mortal Online trying to decide between the two. I am looking for more things to do outside of combat. Thus far the argument people have been giving me why to join DF over Mortal has been combat. I get that, my question to you then is what things does Mortal have over DF that I can do besides combat. IT seems to me that Darkfalls main pull is the combat and (frankly i could care less about combat or pvp having played UO and EVE the combat is the least of my concerns or even Wurm) Im more interested in things like crafting, taming, houses, sailing, exploring, and of course i'd s till like to partake in some guild wars and pvp and that but really i'll prolly get that from EVE over anything else i play.

Thank you kindly!

In truth there are no MO fans on this forum and those that played most likely havent played for at least a year, best to just ask on the official forum

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

MO hands down for sandbox stuff, Darkfall is more of a deathmatch arena...

MO is pretty heavy into the crafting, taming, making a living sorts of things.

I never played Darkfall though.

If you're into something real sandboxy though MO isn't a bad option.  It can really suck you in.  Be prepared for a lot of bugs and a developer that is a bit nonsensical when it comes to patches.

My advice is to not listen to any of us here though.  You've got people on this forum and many others that seem to have built a lifelong professional career out of hating this game.  You won't get much info that isn't heavily biased around some agenda.

You're better off downloading it and playing it a few days yourself.

I would say to wait a little bit. Life Is Feudal goes Early Alpha on Steam on September 19th, 2014, and SOE's H1Z1 is also not far behind on Early Alpha. So I would watch those two if you're really looking for something a little more indepth for sandbox style construction etc...

I play it ocasionaly, if you don't let yourself burnout from MO, it is a good game for a crafter. MO nicely emulated RL economy since you can sell your crafted goods on open market to players. You can buy resources from other players also, so you don't need to farm every material by your self. You can also do a taming and horse breeding business which is quite elaborate in MO, so you can sell mounts with upgraded stats on the Trade broker. You can craft potions from picked ingredients which are effective in combat and in high demand from other players...

Currently one large Territory control patch is on the brink of release, so you could wait a week or so before downloading game. New patch should fix some bugs and introduce larger town banks for individuals. For the guilds it will enable player made towns with various structures.

It's not that we aren't here, it's that we're just sick of getting our threads spammed with stupidity every other time we try to post something positive about the game.

In that light, I agree with your advice - best to just ask on the official forums.

MO has always interested me, I tried it for a couple hours, people were extremely friendly in the game.  One individual (Forgot his name) chilled with me while I learned how to play for  while.

Unfortunately other games caught my attention and I stopped playing.

From my brief experience, the feeling I got from it was very friendly, tons to do, and learn while enjoying the game.

I will likely try it again.

Hey just wanted to give people an update if they were curious or not. I tried out MO and Darkfall and I for sure preferred MO. I had a good starting experience and it was definately fun I learned some things about the taming system though which kinda turned me off. I had tried Wurm a couple years ago but for some reason i decided to give it a go two weeks ago and have been absolutely hooked since. So for now i'll be playing Wurm but if it grows stale i'll jump back into MO and give it some more dedicated time. Thanks all!

have you tried Xsyon ? Google it if you havent. Also while not a mmorpg 7 days to die is another game that fits what you are looking for its a voxel based crafting zombie apoch game that has public servers you can play on that is my go to game when Im not playing ESO or other mmos. Hands down I found it to be the best crafting survival game out there and you can choose to play on co op servers or pvp servers etc.

I played quite a ton of hours on 7 days to die and i did like it a lot. Xyson i steered clear because there was just a really messed up forum community around it where it was just bad news, more bad news, and i dont even want to deal with that. What is the news on Xyson is it in a good place right now?

Apparently tin foil hats are in high fashion among MO fans nowadays.
