Sorry bud.  You'd be the one trolling by even creating the thread, complaining about the costs when you admit you know its going to charity.

I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised someone would pay $5100 for a video game, even if it is for charity.

so many people are so naive its not even funny. They think buy donating a few bucks to charity they instantly become some "saint"? no you are still as useless as you were before and most of the money given to charities doesnt even reach its intended target in most cases....but yeah keep thinking you are making "a better world"...

Oh and the person who payed 5k for this game is rich enough to afford it good on him, he probably just wanted to be noticed, has nothing to do with charity.

I'll give the OP $0.25 to never post again. Anyone want to donate for the cause?

People pay hundreds and thousands to go see Britney Spears lip sync........people wait in line for days to buy an I-phone.

People pay a monthly fee to beta test games.

Donating to a charity is a good cause by any measure, regardless of the motives behind it If they want to feel like a saint then let them have their time. Like i said regardless of their motives its still a good cause, you are right in saying that sometimes it does not go to the intended party.

The largest example can be in some third world charities where it pays for the advert where they found out about the charity in the first place. But its also foolish to think that a chairty has no running costs thats why its called an not-for-profit organisation. If they did not have running costs > They would not reach the donors > No one gets helped ever.

Someone with the intention of helping others is better than someone doing nothing.

There is a reason people from your past did not make it to your future.

I knew it went to charity. I didn't realize there were any rich people following this game. The only thing I learned from your post it that you are a total jerk. And insulting people on the internet doesn't give you good karma.

lol

I don't believe in Karma. :> He was the one that believed in Karma

And most people do. This, however, is more like a gamble charity thing. While your donating there is a chance you could get something really cool or really lame in return. Adds a bit a spice i guess :)

Yes, lets spend our time arguing that the person who won the auction didn't "really" care about charity because they didnt donate it directly.  Am I the only one who sees as absolutely ridiculous?  A charity got money cuz someone gave it to them.  Can't you just be happy about that?

If you would look at the people who bidded as well they where 2 accounts with no prier Referances it seems 1 person made 2 fake accounts and bidded the price sky high and then laughed when they thought he would actually buy it.

We do stuff like this at work all the time. For example, the bosses have front row parking spots and we will let people bid to have it for a week then we will give the money to a cause. Or we'll throw in money to have someone shave their mustache. Fun little games that earn money for good causes.

A no BS perspective

7/01/09 5:03:37 PM#68

The title of the thread was quite appealing, as I know nothing of an auction, thought it was going to be informative on either the game or the people purchasing it... how wrong was I.

Q: Who would pay $2500 for this game?

A: People who can afford such luxury; people who like the game; people who are calculating tax write-off in their head; and/or people who want to donate to a charity and get a game with that alongside. Regardless of the motivation behind creating such an auction or that of the bidders, I for one am glad that there are people willing to give up some of their resources to those who are less fortunate.

The believe in karma is irrelevant. As long as the person bidding feels like they've done something good, then it's good karma for them.

The circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It's what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.
