The bid for the lifetime account on Ebay is already over $2500. Why would anyone pay that much? You don't even get to try it first. What if you don't like it? |

Because the $$$ goes to CHARITY !!!!!! Man you need to learn how to read. !!!!! Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO Waiting for FFXIV =)) |

Originally posted by ghoul31 It's about the charity, as 999 others have said. Although you will see people spending this on F2P games (obviously a very few that might not even reach a two-digit number). Obviously this is out of the majority of us, mere mortals, budget range =) |

LOL you are too funny. You make a post about why would ppl pay 2500.00 for a game not knowing it was going to charity?? Then you get 5 ppl who all say the same thing ? I give charity a few times a year myself it is called Karma. But yes i see that you got my point =)). Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO Waiting for FFXIV =)) |

If you knew it was going to charity, then why make this post? Kinda lame.... |

Because only rich people would have 2500 dollars. Define rich? A middle-class person who happens to also enjoy video games would probably have this much to give. Anything you give to charity you can write off on your taxes, meaning you pay less money to the government. Maybe the money is from one of the devs themselves? Maybe the money is from a group of people who give to charity and they plan on giving the account away to somebody, double win charity action. Maybe one of the devs themselves is bidding on it, sure they don't need the account, but they can always give it to a friend or family member and they give to charity.
I'm in college so I don't make a lot, but I'm very careful with my money. I have at least two grand I could give to charity because in the long run when tax season comes I'd end up keeping more than that, probably. Would -I- personally buy a lifetime account to a game for charity? Depends on how interested I am in the charity and/or the game. |

Its up to $3300 now

But some people do have a lot of money, and that one person could afford that is not that suprising. I think itr was a great thing to do, making something like this. But I could probably pay $250 for a lifetime membership to a game I like, thats about it even if I was a total fan of the game and got some great stuff with it. |

People are paying the money cause they want the limited edition set, and not to give to charity. If anyone is going to give $3300 to a charity they would choose the organization themselves, then donate. |

You should probably get out of the house more. Ever hear of a 'charity auction'? You suppose all the people that go to those are retarded? Try this link www.google.com enter 'charity auction' and see what you get. I suggest in the future before calling someone a retard, you actually know what you're talking about.

3300+ now. Why do people seem bitter and angry at the people bidding? Jesus come on it's a charity auction. Don't be idiots. It is really cool of the devs. |

Even though the retard remark wasn't that clever, he is still kinda right.... if one have never played an MMO, one would never bit 3300$ for an account to an MMO... Yes theres lots of charity auctions, but the people attending these, are interested in the items too, you dont buy junk just to help out... the whole point is to get something you like, maybe overpriced, but you like it, and you helped out. So to say the person does not want this account is probably wrong.. i say probably because, it could be an site who make their dollars on advertisements, who are planning on giving the account aweay in a competition, in order to draw more people to their site... or other companies... peace out |

what I dont get about people is the fake reassurance that they constantly need. They donate a few bucks and magically think they are "good person" now. Do you even realise that most money never reaches its intended destination? I personaly dont bother with charities. |

I think you meant "They donate a few bucks and think that magically makes them a good person". Otherwhise, that made no sense, and the statement itself comes off as bitter. And honestly, what is wrong with the thought that you did something good? Sure it may not reach the intended destination in full, but you risk that with a lot of things, but thinking you did good is better than nothing. They are claiming that 100% of the proceeds will go straight to the charity, which means little to no money for them, but its an amazing publicity stunt, and great, and positive, attention. Great thing for them to do. A win-win situation for everyone. If you don't like the game, your money went to charity, not them, so don't bitch about wasting it. For them? The mentioned publicity and attention. As for the OP, if you knew the proceeds were for charity, then the only reason you made this topic was to invite and bring about flaming, specially with the question and the way you react towards people. You think its a waste, oh well, you aren't being forced to pay for it so shut it. Rich people may take part in it, but they aren't the only ones who have at least 2k to spare. |
