How come this game is so low populated? I ve never played mmorpg which was so beautiful, had so much freedom and was so unique + had such great. mature and helpful community. So far i like everything about Ryzom. If only i knew way to make it more popular.

I d like to invite everybody to try it I think it is realluy worthwhile checking.

Sorry for my eanglish.

My main reason to subspect that it has such low population is cause you have to pay to play it and many people don't want to play to try out a older game that came out in 2004 but i thnk since it is f2p till skill levels of 125 that it will become more popular and revie the community.

the main reason is that's it's never been properly marketed and was released too close to WoW (major bit of bad luck for the original owners that Blizzard chose to release WoW with a massive (tens of millions of dollars) worldwide marketing campaign just weeks from Ryzom's release date, when Ryzom had a total budget smaller than Blizzards advertising budget.

That situation has never changed, and over time too many websites are now listing Ryzom as being offline when in fact it isn't that a lot of people looking for a game never even find it.

Ryzom was released in a buggy and grind-heavy state at almost exactly the same time as WoW. It really wasn't a problem with marketing, it just couldn't draw enough players and so went bankrupt twice.

Once past the tutorial island, the game is grind and roleplay heavy. If this is your playstyle, and you can make connections with the veteran population of the game, you might enjoy it.

Never criticize a "sandbox" game on mmorpg.com. You will be drowned in a wave of kool-aid drinking fanbois.

I'm a few weeks into this and really liking it as well. Hopefully the new free-to-play model will increase the populations.

I played the game back when it was free a couple years ago.

The begining island was one of my favorite MMO experiences of all time.

The mainland was one of my worst MMO experiences of all time.

I suppose the truth lies somewhere in between.
