Just wanted to stop by and say how much Ryzom has impressed me. Everything about this game is refeshing. At first glance, the graphics may look outdated but after cranking them up, I was amazed at the level of detail. If anyone is thinking of trying this game out, don't hesitate. The community is rediculously helpful even in global chat! Even met a decent number of new players on the starter island as well!

Give Ryzom a chance!!!

Welcome Tryos!

I just reactivated my account which have been on hold for about two years. I must say that Ryzom truly is a gem and holds up very well against current mmorpg titles. Certainly so if you appreciate to explore on your own and not being dictated by a pre-defined path with boring quests in your hand.

I am looking for a 2nd game and am thinking of reinstalling Ryzom.  Do you still start on the "newbie" Island, or can you go to the mainland?

Current Games: TERA, D3
Past Games:SWTOR, Rift, Allods, AION, LOTRO, EQ2, EQOA, AO,Tabula Rasa, Warhammer, AOC, Earthrise, EVE Online, WOW
Waiting On: The Great "Sandbox"

Of course you start in/on the Newbe Area.

I know no Game that does otherwise.

But anyway, you can go straight to mainland if you feel the need.

But please be advised that the Tutorial Missions On Silan are quite helpful and you do get some good starting gear from them.

Once a character is created it starts on Silan.  You can go to Chiang and select the bottom mission straight way and go to the mainland, however, if you do this you lose the easy xp that you get from doing the missions on Silan.
