Well, I found the game, I've never heard of it, but I a few times in the past wandered around on the internet and found that I had wound up on to the game's home page, so this time, I tried it because it looked cool. Why don't I see much talk about it?

Anyways, I read that it had gone F2P, but when I signed up, I got a 3 week free trial, but after that, I have to P2P. After I made my account, I downloaded the game and installed it, tried following all the steps and make it always allow me (although I think it didn't work), I tried running it in fullscreen mode on my monitors resolution, on a low resolution, in windowed, with custom settings, high settings, low settings, logged in and tried many times, waited, and still, it will not run.

Every time, the screen just sits there and act like it's doing something, but when I click, the window turns black. Windows task manager says it's not responding. Why is it doing this? I just want to try it because it looks cool and lasts until October.

Also, I'm playing it on the abomination of mankind Windows Vista, so that might have something to do with it.

I can't post on their forums unless I register for it. However, I can't register for a forum account unless I am logged into my game account. However, even IF I log into the main page, it still doesn't work on the forum page, so I guess I just can't ask there.

What do I have to do to get this awesome looking game to work for me?

I also got something to add. When I double click on it's icon, it asks for my permission, so I allow it. But, when I right clicked on it, went to properties, and selected "run as admin" I get the little command promp to show up, and then I get a error message saying "Windows cannot find 'client_ryzom_rd.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again."

What does that mean?

Also, when I ran configurations, chose default settings, and then hit apply and play, nothing happens. The game doesn't start up.

I've even re-installed it, and it won't work.

First off: (i doubt this is it but...) Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, as these may cause problems using Ryzom.

Next thing you can try is to look in the Ryzom folder for client_ryzom_rd.exe, and execute that file. It should start the client just fine (as the launcher seems to be unable to find that file, executing it if it indeed is there should be a bypass to that problem).

Now, if you think it's a rights issue: make sure you have the latest Ryzom client (i believe after 1.4.0 it was vista/7 compatible), if you don't, either download the latest one, OR copy your installation to your "my documents" folder. In there you have all read/write privileges. Any client should work there, and be updated propperly to a vista compatible version, after which you can put it wherever u like again.

If this doesn't fix it: feel free to add more info, and perhaps the client's log.log file.

Look here for technical help : www.ryzom.com/en/support.html

Just send an e-mail describing the issue, they´ll respond quite quickly :)

And download the latest Client here: www.ryzom.com/en/download_game.html

preferably by torrent. As its the fastest way, most of the time  ;)

CU& Good Luck!

I tried "executing" client_ryzom_rd.exe, but I think I mistook execute for delete, so I moved it to the trash bin, and it still didn't work. I tried copying the Ryzom folder to documents on my user (I didn't see anything saying My Documents but I did see Documents) and running it from there, and on starting it up, it still asks me for permission to start, and it still doesn't work.

I also read something saying "If you experience lot of crash, please try to do a data check. Press the "check Data" button at Login Screen", but I don't see the button anywhere.

Wait a minute. Even choosing the support button causes the window to turn black and stop responding. But it went back to normal and started up FireFox so I can send a report.

if you remove that file the game will certainly not work. It will need to be restored for sure. you need to run the file to start the game.

besides that... all i can say is, try to send an email to support (who usually reply very quikly), or contact them through CeB (downloadable here: http://www.ryzom.com/en/support.html , the top link) they can probably help you more than i can.

Well, I tried that, and basically they told me to do the same shit, and it still didn't work, but I lost hope and gave up almost 5 days ago.
