I don't supposed these two things are necessary to play a game, but it really irks me when my toon refuses to run off a cliff, or even jump. At least with Requiem you could go off a cliff...or run down it in a very weird way. Join the League For Gamers. |

No jumping in-game yet, either off of a cliff or over a flower. Current: None |

Nope, you can´t. And I´m not bothered by it. *shrug* Just enjoy it anyway ;)

I was never under the impression that they planned on implementing it in the first place. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

No idea. There are times when jump would come in handy, but the lack of it really doesn't detract from the gameplay for me. Current: None |

I think I get the cliff bit, if you don't fall off the cliff, you don't end up in undeveloped areas. It still seems like you *should* be able to run off a cliff, regardless of the outcome for your toon. Join the League For Gamers. |

For the pure sake of "realism" you should be able to "accidentally" fall of a cliff or somewhere, yes I agree. It´s a bit weird to run into some invisible "safety ropes" or sometimes "walls" on occasion. But well, you could always chalk the "falling down/jumping down" stuff up to common sense on the side of your character, who´d most certainly would not want to jump/fall of a cliff to his/her death As for jumping, well I truly have no idea why it wasn´t built in. Rumor has it, that its got something to do with the engines limitations and many players have been asking for it to be implemented over the years. To no avail. But, as was said, it doesn´t limit gameplay or substract from any fun you can have in the game. It´s just one more small, weird quirk that makes this game unique.

This was debated a lot of times. Sure would be nice to be able to jump, climb and fall down eventually. Personally I played a lot of games, with jump and such, but, apart of CoX, were you have a superjump as a travel power, I don't think it's really needed. Anyway, Ryzom, is not the only one without jump, just think of Guild Wars. Anyway, what most of the new people can't get, because, of course, they don't know the game world yet, is that the absence of the jump is an intended behaviour, and not a lack of programming. If you see all the animations around and how smooth they are, you can easy realize, the jump per-se was never a problem. Why it was an intended behaviour? Because the game world is based on dangerous paths, dead ends, traps. So, with this design a jump would spoil a lot of things in terms of gameplay. And that's the reason why I think jump will not be developed, at least not in a short time. To develop jumping and to avoid spoiling the game, the devs should redesign the entire world and collision system. Well, maybe I can be wrong and the devs can decide to make the jump not caring at the conseguences in terms of gameplay :) I think, if you wanna try to enjoy a game, you have to take it as it is. If you have fun, jump or not, it's worth playing. Edit: Acridiel, for what I know there is no limitations in the engine that prevent in making a jump (lol, you should see the free game developed by VL, before reopening of ryzom, with NeL... it's entirely based on jumping).

This could all have something to do with my chosen method of navigation. It's been awhile, but I think you can click to move or use keyboard movement. When I was playing Ryzom, keyboard/mouse movement was what I considered acceptable, and clicking the ground somewhere to move to that spot seemed an alien concept. I've since gotten over that...so maybe jumping while moving isn't that necessary. I could be all wrong about that though, it's been awhile since I played; it was in the (2nd? 3rd?) beta before the recent release.

Uhm, nope. Luckily no Point&Click to run. Normal WASD control.
