is this game still alive. The website still allows sign-ups and the servers say they are green, which I assume means online...

Boredom is in the temperament of the beholder.

The server status indicators are incorrect. The servers have been down for some weeks.

Ryzom has been bought by a London-based "Spiderweb International Ltd.," however no one knows who they are and they haven't done anything yet. But it has only been a few days since we learned of the purchase.

Has the purchase happened? Last I checked the Spiderweb people had just put in the highest bid. Anyone have any idea on likely speed of progress from here to the game being back up and running?

Virtualcitizenship.org had some information regarding the purchase, but everything is still up in the air. I hope we see the return of Ryzom someday. It was my favorite game.

''Silence is golden and talk is cheap. I''m poor, so make with the discussion.''

This month old topic needs a bump.

So, is Ryzom progressing or is it still stagnant? More than a month ago it was purchased by some Spiderweb people, so are they doing anything with it?

I don't think it was actually purchased. The news a month ago was that Spiderweb International had put in the highest bid for it.... and we haven't heard anything since.

As far as I know it's still in the French Courts.

And what little we know about Spiderweb International isn't encouraging. It looks like a shell corporation - though it's possible they're legitimately interested in restarting Ryzom and have set it up the way they have for expediency.

OMG! Ponies!

I'm really missing Atys. I hope something happens soon. It would be nice just knowing what's going to happen, even if it takes some time to materialise. I hate being in the dark.

The game has been bought by Spiderweb International. What they plan to do with the game remains unclear. And you are right, they are a shell corporation but for who is also a mistery.

Some say it was bought for its engine, but those are just rummors. Ryzom may be resold to us under a new name and possibly a whole new concept - check out Earthrise or W.E.L.L.- they are the next best MMO's similar to Ryzom.

Not that I don't believe you, but where did you read the purchase has happened? I was trying to keep up on this but obviously I've missed a few things.

Earthrise doesn't thrill me but I'm already a little bit hooked on WELL. Just the fact that their focus is almost entirely on end-game is something that has strong appeal for me.

The only source that has publicly discussed the status of Ryzom has been the people at virtualcitizenship.org
Ryzom News Link.
