Originally posted by Souvec I reckon the majority would be back in a flash. The fact is there just aren't any mmos that come close to offering what Ryzom did. I've given up on other mmos and gone back to mud'ing 'til Ryzom returns. If they resurrect it, a few minor changes, some halfway decent marketing and this game would be a serious contender even against the 'next gen' mmos coming out now. Cos the features that make so Ryzom so good are largely unique to this game.

Oh mine.. Ive had a Ryzom break since summer and I was gonna sign up again today because I really had the urge to play it.. When I saw the last news on their webpage was from september I got suspicious.. Guess now I know there is a reason why it hasn't been updated..

I only dabbled in Ryzom, it just never grabbed me. However it was a pretty good game. Very open style, clean, and beautiful graphics and attention to detail. There are certainly a lot of crummy MMO's around that are still running that dont deserve to be. Seriously, how can games like Dark and Light, Face of Mankind (closing soon), Hellgate London, Matrix, Vanguard, and Star Wars Galaxies still be alive while Ryzom closes down ??? I hope Ryzom comes back for the dedicated fans' sake. It doesnt deserve this fate |

I hope it comes back, perhaps with a revamp of the graphic engine to be more modern, and perhaps an expansion on the game world, to be even more sandboxy
The skill system and loot/craft systems were really something, not to mention the atmosphere etc. |

I went to Wiki and it read: On May 5 2008, the Ryzom forums were taken offline. |

There hasn't been any news of Ryzom or it's new owner, Spiderweb Intl Ltd., for around three months. Lurking google for info on this company only turns up old april / may articles in dead blogs and forums (and a lot of background sleuthing services), and it would seem that nobody can investigate it personally. It's impossible to even get in contact with them... What could this mystery company possibly gain by remaining under the radar? |

That's the 213,000 euro question. And since we hadn't heard anything from the VCA since their announcement re the bid.... I got back into snooping mode. While Xavier hasn't been passing on news in the English forums, there's a lot being said in the French ones. I can't speak French - but going by Babel's semi-translations of the forums.... While there remains the issue of the first liquidators never having been paid by Nevrax, there's also a directive from the court dated 18th March '08 authorising Spiderweb International to pay up - and presumably take possession of all assets. There's still no indication they've paid. That doesn't tell us much, but it would seem to eliminate the "it's just tied up in the courts" theory. |
