While we are waiting news and trialing other games, I thought it would be nice to have a spot where people could put their favorite movies and screenshots of Atys. Here is mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWhfSiTlDdU Many thanks to Acridiel for the great movies. Moonlightmist |

I watch those movies for hours on some days. But haven't found the Battle for Woodburn anywhere except Utube. Would be nice to have a better resolution of that movie. Playing Sins of a Solar Empire for now for lack of a MMO I'm really interested in. |

Thank You, got a pretty complete Ryzom movie library now. For all of its problems Ryzom is by far the best MMO I've played. |

Wow some awesome stuff. Makes me want to If we could get people to watch these videos and see for themselves the beauty we know as Atys, these money problems would not exist and the servers would be hard pressed to keep up with the new accounts. Lets hope some news comes out soon so we can either hope or use these to remember a great MMO. Bosse of the Fluffy Bunnies |

Originally posted by SuperCapt I think you're spot on on this point - I've never played any other mmo that made me feel like I was walking around inside a massive work of art. Some newer games may have better quality graphics but I wouldn't call them beautiful.
I'm trying to think back to when I started - is there any kind of intro to the game? Like after character creation, don't you just appear on Silan? Maybe some kind of intro that shows off this stuff would help to wow new players. Silan is a vast improvement on the old noob areas but it doesn't really show off this aspect of the game very well. Like the first time I saw someone use one of the racial special spells on the mainland, my jaw just about fell out my mouth and I suddenly knew what skill I was going to raise first. Then the next day I saw someone with one of the flashy racial weapons and then I wanted to work on my melee.... Then I saw the guns and tried ranged combat and.... well you know where I'm going with this. There's a lot to love about Ryzom but they only show you a tiny slice of it in the noob area. I think more tease factor would encourage subscriptions. Maybe a brief (with an option to skip it) intro with your newly created character fleeing a town/village being attacked by kitins. New players could see homin npcs in their cool armour and with their sexy weapons and firing off their flashy spells. And then if they got either airlifted away by the Karavan or etherealised by the Kami you could show off the landscape a bit during transport to safety on Silan. |

An intro is a good idea. :) Another possibility: A small gathering of homins is seen, sitting around a campfire at night. For the most part they're dressed in dingy, ragged clothing (albeit deliciously well-textured), but one of them is dressed in sexy turquoise armour (indicative of the Rangers of Atys, an NPC group) and has a nice weapon propped beside him. He is telling the others about the New Lands of opportunity where their fellows are training, fighting the Kitin, and being resurrected by the Kami and Karavan. I'd include "rebuilding their civilisations," if that were to become true in-game. As the Ranger speaks, there are video clips of various impressive aspects of Ryzom, flashback-style. Some are referred to only in general terms, some are described more closely, and perhaps some ominous clips are not spoken of but are shown atop an evasive pause or the dodging of an awkward question asked by one of the listeners, giving the viewer a hint of the intrigue and mystery Atys is filled with. The Ranger urges the listeners to make the journey to the New Lands and join the efforts of hominity. In the next scene, which takes place in daylight, you see your character walking out of a camp or village, perhaps glancing back before heading off into the horizon. |

I totally agree. I have said this for a while now: Ryzom needs to advertise itself! Advertising doesn't necessary need to be done on third-party websites either. All the owners need to do is create a buzz around the game. Like you guys have mentioned: an intro movie will both wow new players but also remind old players as to why they're playing the game. By generating news stories on a regular basis, people will find out about the game through news feeds etc. This is how I found out about Ryzom in the first place! It was a stroke of luck considering news was hardly released.
It just seems like the owners weren't feeling the Ryzom "vibe." It's truly a beautiful world that deserves much more attention than it gets...or got |
