Nevrax Offers A Tour of Atys

Across the universe, past vast galaxies, there was a great fusion of matter, and a unique world came into being. The primeval roots were soon sprouting green tendrils into the sky, fowl were soaring on the wing, and beasts romping in the frenetic miracle of Life.

There lives on this planet, called Atys, humanoids, called homins. There are four homin races: Matis, Tryker, Fyros and Zoraï. To this day, nobody has managed to shed light on the mystery surrounding their arrival. A legend nonetheless has been passed on through the ages, and this legend is the key to discovering the secret behind the origins of Atys.

The legend portends that homins lived on an impoverished planet until the Great Dragon came and seduced them with visions of crystal waters and a land of plenty. After luring them to Atys, the dragon endeavoured to black-out the entire planet by extinguishing the sunlight and force all of hominkind into slavery. But Jena, Goddess of the Sun, Creator of Atys, heard of the Dragon's treachery and filled his body with an eternal fire to prevent him from breathing coldness and extinguishing the living light of the sun. The Goddess then conjured the light anew so provoking the Green Rising so that the homins could live again in harmony in a bountiful world.

Beyond the homins, two groups as powerful and mysterious as one another seek to control the destiny of Atys, the Karavan and the Kamis. Both possess unique powers, both claim to be the true guardians of the planet, both come to the aid of homins as long as they obey their rules, both are secretive about their origins and perhaps even their true intentions.

The Karavan is composed of mysterious anthropoid beings in black suits and helmets that cover their entire heads. They are the faithful disciples of Jena, the Life Giver of Atys, and are invested with a mission to uphold homin faith in her. To steer homins on the path to salvation they wield weird technology capable of taking life or resurrecting it at the lift of a finger.

Eerie entities capable of taking on various appearances, the Kamis constitute a major influence on Atys and its habitants. They ensure that no one may destabilize the fragile equilibrium of the planet they cherish and they share a collective conscience. The Kamis showed great benevolence towards the homins who clearly roused the creatures' curiosity.

The latent antagonism between the Karavan and the Kamis has progressively divided the homins. Over time, Matis’natural penchant for the powerful and the lordly led them to build up a very strong relationship with the Karavan. The Trykers too consider the Karavan as the devout disciples of the goddess Jena. On the contrary, the Zoraïs have grown close to the mysterious Kamis. Even the Fyros, who are not very devout by nature, are allying themselves more and more with the Kamis.

The four homin peoples of Atys evolved independently into four intricate cultures which in turn developed into civilizations. Each civilization had an innate predilection for a distinct environment.

The Matis are proud heirs of an old Monarchy from the haunted woods who seek to restore their lost Kingdom. With highly cultivated aesthetes and well versed in forest botany, the Matis are both a romantic and a conquering race. They staunchly believe that, just as every particle of the universe has a function, every homin must strive for his or her true place in society.
