wth what kind of beta app is this. This is first time out of maybe 100 beta applicationt  that somone  ask for my income range, the # of kids i have, if i'm a homeowner or not  and race????? wth do they care or need that to decide if i get in a beta or not hell wth do they need this not like i'm applying for credit or something

Anyone get a confirmation letter for your beta application? I just want to make sure because I didn't. I don't want to go on thinking I applied when it wasn't confirmed. Thanks in advance.

Been waiting for awhile for this beta, I am determined to be a part of it. lol

Yeah that was DEEP, took me about 20mins to finish it cause that shit made me nervous as hell. But I also think I figure out why they are asking for so much info, the NDA for this company is not going to play around with game leaks NDA breaking. About Asking if you are married and have kids is a check to see if you may or may not have time to do the testing. The money income part is for...well if you really broken the NDA badly, you know what I mean.

But why do they neeed to know demographics really. What the point, not because someone is black and other white will change the fact they might or might not buy their game. It's totally irrelevant for a BETA APPLICATION.

Its really none of there business..And i am sure allot of players are going to fill it with false information..And that site does not look Secure enough for me to give them that info..Further more I dont trust a game company i do not know that well..

it's simple why they are asking.  They want to accept all races and age groups to get a survey of what kinds of ages and races this game generally appeals to.

Let's be honest here. not to sound sound racist. But most of my black friends who play games are more into halo, left4dead, and other action games then they are into things like Everquest and World of Warcraft.

I mean, even age wise how many 40+ year old games do you know that really got into games like Grand Theft Auto series?

This is not to say ALL people in those groups are like that but nevertheless games hit and appeal to certain demographics and it's important to find out what different kinds of games like these which are non-traditional mmos because you want to know who your target audience is going to be and who you really want to market a game for.

You don't see those 50 Cent games coming in marketing to elderly men and women in there 60's +.

I'm thinking its so they can gauge who their demographic might be

and leverage that for additional capital.

It is really creepy and I'm thinking this game might take another

stab at in game ads...(just random thoughts)

Actually reading the FAQ, its not subscription based

..so....i reallllly think it's going to have in game ads

which is fine if i can graffiti and blow them up

The fact that you wrote the above tells me you have NO IDEA how businesses understand who to market their products to. It might be totally irrelevant for the beta of APB, but that information could be used to determine who to target for their next MMO (or even what features/content to add later in APB).

When are you flakey gamers going to realize that game development is a business.

By far the worst questions that i have seen on a beta application.  And no, i didn't receive an email confirmation either.

Because its a criminal element game.  If most of the people signing up  are snotty nosed, pimple faced, 13 year olds that have no job and overprotective parents, they are likely to take the direction of the games content a slightly different way than if the majority of interested beta testers are 25+ single white males who don't have children or wives.

The page doesn't even have HTTPS on it, and there is this little tidbit on their privacy policy.

your full name your income, education, race, just not a good idea... I'm sure most people don't care though. Remember what Mulder said, "trust no one." it's for your own good. I gotta go they are coming for me... :D

IMHO this application is totally unfair, why? they are asking all these personal information totally irrelevant to beta test a game, we're not going to take an insurance... and also they trade with this information....
