Realtime Worlds founder and creative director of APB Dave Jones spoke to EDGE recently on the development philosophy the company aims to follow towards the future of APB.
In the interview, Mr. Jones goes on to explain that Realtime Worlds plans on expanding APB "horizontally". He describes the way current MMOGs expand as a vertical expansion: more levels, more dungeons, but with the gameplay largely remaining the same. With APB, they want to expand the gameplay options as opposed to only layering additional content onto the gameplay already on offer.

In other words, non linear progression.
It sounds too good to be true. It looks like Realtime Worlds actually steered away from the trodden path an switched their brains on. Most games, even WAR and AoC, could be saved if developers would expand horizontally instead of vertically. How long does it take me to run through new content? New ways to experience a game, new mechanics and additional options, however let me experience the game world once again in a new and different way.
Vertical expansion should be the primary goal with horizontal expansion adding to it once in a while.
Ive been watching this title for some time now, looking forward to it's progression.
