Nope, but I do think they're the most interesting. There is a reason for the whole "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" saying. Cause its damned fun.
How exactly is prostitution and drug-dealing "low-life" but theft and murder are O.K? |

Thank you for understanding I absolutely want drugs ,crime and prostitution in the game Why ?This game is positioning itself as crime/law orientated game .In the real world drugs and prostitution are an intrinsic part of criminal organizations .So why wouldn't you want to be exposed to them in a game about that ? It really does undermine APB if these aren't in ...or at least the game cant claim to be authentic .Any on these forums who thinks murder, bank robberies and gang violence is acceptable but drugs and prostitution is wrong needs to take a serious look introspectively at there moral code...because its hypocritical and skewed :) "after the time of dice came the day of mice " |

So yeah. Police can kill innocent ppl. I dont talk about the criminal players. If a player can be a police, he might be able to kill some innocent. Criminal can kill police since its more of a criminal vs police and both are players only. We can steal cars. They learn us how to open car doors without key and make make it roll without the key again. And there is no drug dealing and prostitution. WTF??? IF GTA had all that, why APB cant do it too? I dont get it. |

Someone needs to make a Drug Wars online with a 3D engine. I used to love that game! |

I guess my question would be how would you implement drugs and prostitution? I know other games allowed you to "Craft" and sell drugs. But prostitution? Really? I don't want to know how you would even imagine that implemented. --- From what I have gathered so far it's basically going to be a really big scenario sort of thing. Group A will have to accomplish Task A and Group B will have to prevent task A or do task b..sort of thing. But I'm daft. |

Well, I think that this game won't have drug dealing or anything else similar because they say its action online game. What I have read it seems that they are making a action game, not a mmo. In the gamescom gameplay vid it seems that its a true action game that you play online.
I was hoping that this game could be real criminals vs. cops MMORPG, but it seems that it won't be. But if its a good action online game I will buy it and play it like hell. This game needs to take it all the way when it comes to crimes you can commit. Drug dealing & prostitution are for kids, I want serial killers, rapists and every other hardcore crime imaginable. |
|
|
You do know that there will be a fame/infamy rating as per your "serial killer" request. As for your drugs and prostitution I wouldn't put it past them. It will be M so they probably will go all out. |

I can't believe what I've been reading in this thread, this is just insane. Setting aside whether they're designing APB without drugs and prostitution for marketing reasons, people's responses in this thread are so hypocritical. APB is a game about crime - that is the basic premise: cops chase criminals and try to capture them when they're committing any illegal activities. Drug dealing and prostitution are the most well-established criminal activities occurring today, no question about it. Both affect people around the world. That is fact, no question about it. Why shouldn't they be included in this game?
From a completely objective point of view, setting aside our moral prejudices (which are clearly misfounded after having read this thread), drug dealing and prostitution (as well as other taboo crimes like rape) should definitely be included. Not only that, but they'd add a whole new dimension to the game, as people have already mentioned: from 'low-level' activity (crafting, buffs, etc.) to higher-level, more organized activity (massive drug transactions from one gang to another, cops busting big prostitution rings, etc). So, both of these activities would provide a cocherent addition to the APB world and add a vast amount of depth to the game.
The only reason some of you seem to be against it is because of some messed up social stigma associated with drugs and prostitution. But even if you ARE against drugs and prostitution, why you wouldn't want it in this game is mind boggling. I'm against killing people and chopping off their heads (I really hope you are too) but I still find it to be an extremely important element in a lot of games; not because of that will I think any less of these games, because THEY ARE NOT REAL LIFE!
Seriously, whoever thinks that drugs and prostitution in a cops vs. criminals GAME is completely unnecessary needs to take their heads out of their asses (or bibles, whatever) and realize what's really going on in the world. |

Gaaaaah! Are you going to shoot up the old lady that abuses her vixodin prescription? Or the fat guy getting a coner in his car? It's an action shooting/driving game so you need action crimes, like car theft and bank robberies. (I'll give you some aspects of drugs are action oriented.) I know I want to shoot up wall street investors that steel our money, you know how cathartic that would be? Or what about the dumb ass kids that don't know how to use the cross walk that is 10ft from them, can I run them over? God I'm old. Hey! Get off my lawn.
Aaaah!

I'm sorry,I'm fairly certain that in the phrase "Cops and Robbers" at no point says "and Pimps and Druglords". Remember in the playground, when you used to just play, where were the prositutes and dealers? I'll answer, probably not playing your game, which may I remind you APB is a game, not real life.
Basicly cops stop robbers from stealing things, Where as robbers attempt to take things from others, you see the balance is restored. Throw pimps and dealers in the mix,it all gets a bit busy. The cops end up focusing on the pimps and dealers, giving the robbers and easy job,and as far as my knowledge goes,Games are meant to be a challenge. |

Maybe you can be a pimp or a drug dealer, even a prostitute. A corrupt cop? An informant? The more diversity and immersion the better in my opinion. If it helps build a strong community then I'm all for it. |

Fair point,I'm all for a stonger community and diversity but it feels a bit unneeded as the orginal game concept of robbing, finding, stopping then the choice of arresting or killing seems to be working pretty smoothly and well. |

Love the MMORPG concept, but sick to death of M.M.O. Repetitive Pointless Grinds.. |
Setting aside all the discussion about whether drugs and prostitution should be in the game or not, I'm just wondering.. MMOs almost always try to be G-rated. Supposedly its to broaden appeal, or to avoid bad press, or something? but why do MMOs follow different rules than single-player games (like, you know, GTA) Wouldn't the issues be pretty much just the same? It can't be because MMOs are bigger business - there's no way APB will be as big as GTA, and if anything, the average age demographic for MMOs is probably at least a few years older than SP games...
