Conservativism is like an STD, it is fun to screw everybody, but then you eventually get burned. |
Read in the official forums a year ago about and it said no Drug Dealing and no Prostitution. Is that still the policy of the developers, "no crime in a crime based game," or did they finally grow a spine with Jack Thompson disbarred?

actually that's a very good question. How do they plan on making this game about cops and criminals when it's PG? I'm all in for drugs and prostitution in this sort of game, and it's probably the only game I'd approve of it.

Sex, drugs, rock and roll and naughty language is forbidden. But violence by itself is ok. It's all about ratings- the kind that enables companies to pander to young teens, who marketing gurus insist spend the most money on entertainment out of any age group. This has become a self-fulfilling prophecy in the entertainment industry. By catering to younger and younger audiences over the years as products became inferior- Im talking everything, movies, music, video games- spending amongst other age groups has naturally dropped off at an accelerated rate. The market is still out there- but people in their late teens, twenties, single thirties without children- etc., aren't going to spend their disposable income on kiddyfied products. |

No crime in... a game about... crime. Wow. I've never seen a company actually plan on their game being an absolute failure. In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own. -Thomas Jefferson |

Yea because robbing stores, banks, and other people aren't crimes? Oh and lets not forget about shootings, car theft, assault, hit and run, and what ever else Im sure they have in the game don't count as crime either? |

Because robberies arent that common as drug and soliciting. Since those crimes are under radar and produce a semi-steady revenue. So this game is just a gank fest, shoot-out party. No real depth. One should be able to do crimes that are "stealthier" that warrants investigations and actually work from the Police to crackdown. Otherwise it's just cops vs robbers child game with no real thought behind other than try to beat the opposite faction.

And it's going to be a crappy as hell, 25 people in a session? This aint no MMORPG, this is a lesser version of GTA4 online mode.

I heard that this game was supposed to be a GTA-clone MMO. But a GTA type game without drugs and prostitution is like a fantasy game without swords and sorcery. Completely pointless. |

I think the MMO designers want us to do stuff we don't do in real life, otherwise its just like the day job ..So drugs and pimming are out. |

Why would a company introduce drugs and prostitiution when it will lower their sales? You have a ton of other crimes to commit but you knock the game because you can't sell a nic of weed or solicit some NPC to another NPC. The game isn't a gank fest because in order for the cops to attack the criminals they need to commit a crime and even after the criminals commit a crime only the cops who receive the APB may attack the criminals... and to make it even more fair there is a system in play that matches up the criminals with the cops who are on the same play level. You got it right when you said this was a cops and robbers game.. but with no depth? How so? I'm 100% sure you didn't read up or watch any videos on the game. Also.. correct me if I'm wrong but in most PvP games the main goal is to... well ... defeat the opposite faction?
Oh, and FYI... -This game is not suppose to be a lesser GTA4 multiplayer or any clone of GTA in any way, shape, or form. - The devs do not want to call their game a MMORPG.. they prefer to call it a MMO -It is 100 people to a session or "zone" of the city (yet to be clarified).. 50 cops and 50 criminals.. not sure where you got 25 from

Selling drugs and pimping hoes is a crime. In a game about crime, there should be these aspects. Stop thinking morally and think virtually. Crime game.. Needs crime. Selling drugs - Boost money, power, respect, and gangsta thugin! It would also benefit the cops, busting a large drug ring, cleaning the streets, a.k.a the war against drugs. This drug and prostitute aspect could be vital to this game if some producers / developers actually wrote out a list of pros and cons. I'm sure the pros in this case will heavily outweigh the cons. People are still failing to realize the a video game is FAKE... and parents need to draw a line if they don't want their kids playing certain titles. ______________________________ What if Paul Revere was like the boy who cried wolf....? yeah you def don't want drugs or prostitutes, that just kills sales. I mean look at GTA IV, that sold what, 12 copies or something? most gamers are not children. In the mmorpg genre children are a very small fraction of the total population. Let's see how well creating a kidified game works out for them. |

This game should allow you to use keystroke loggers to steal and sell peoples wow accounts. Games played/playing: Asheron's Call, AC2, SWG, GW, LotRO (Beta), DnDO (Beta), WoW |

T&A sells games. EQ2 has a reasonable amount of female subscribers but most mmo's are male dominated. If they take out the T&A then I don't see much point in this game, it's just another fps. -- |

Wow... sick, sick people. Hey, I've noticed several of you guys saying you wanted prostitution and drugs... but you only told how drug-dealing would add depth and complexity to the game. How does prostitution add up? I mean, it seems to me you just want to get some happy time with your virtual girlfriend |

Well, last I checked, AoC had some devs willing to be prostituted... And for the rest of the pervs, get your hands out of your pants with the thought of APB being a GTA online- because it won't be. Too many legal issues if it was. ----------------------- Played- SWG (pre-cu), AoC, VG, WoW, LoTRO,CoX, EQ2, DAOC, GW, PotBS Playing- EVE, Jade Dynasty, RoM, Aion, SUN Waiting for- MO, Tera, APB, TOR, DCO, Jumpgate Evo, Black Prophecy, Dawntide, Cities XL, WH40K, WWE, Alganon, NASA |

Why? The drugs and prostitute stuff in GTA are either story line or consist of pickup/dropoff missions, with can easily be replaced. Like someone else said, it is going to lower there sells, then why would they? Especialy if it does not lower the quality of the game. |

i don't need all the guns and drugs.. I'm just going to J-walk,litter, and speak loudly in a library. |

drugs add in depth through the creations of the drugs (crafting of drugs), the movement of drugs(adds in trafficking elements which has awesome potential with cops), the sale of drugs to others players (economic) and also elements of corruption among police. unless you want to just have a game where you shoot at each other 95% of the time, then drugs can add some nice elements into the game. |

There is no need for prostitution...I don't think it will lower sales at all, but it's just not necessary in any game...its just sick.... As for drugs....if they want this game to be realistic or believable, they need the drugs...I live in Stockton California, this is a pit of gangs and the whole cops and robbers crap...to be honest, almost no gang members actually "pimp", but almost all of them sell drugs. PLAYING:Back to AoC...maybe EVE soon. PLAYED:FFXI, LotRO, AoC, WAR, DDO, Megaten, Wurm, Rohan, Mabinogi. WAITING FOR: Final Fantasy XIV, Eathrise, TERA, Infinity: The Quest for Earth... |

I think this pretty much sums it up. Drug dealing is about as exciting as driving an ice cream truck and prostitution in a video game is even more pathetic than RL prostitution. |
