I'll do my best to be objective. The 2.5D environment leaves a lot to be desired for those that enjoy seeing the sky, but the shadows and overlays are well-rendered to provide the effect of a three-dimensional environment. Visually, the game is appealing. Subtle details are evident if one simply takes the time to observe. For instance, it didn't take more than the third level (there are six) of DecayedCachot to realize how it fits in with the Genotian race storyline. (Hint: Body/Robot vs. Humans) Music is individualized for each race based on primary characteristics, as well as racial-based mobiles. PvP seems a bit buggy still, but it certainly works. Unfortunately, there is more to equipments, eudemons and character level in winning than to any "skill" on the part of the player. The learning curve in this game is a bit higher than others due to crafting, embedding, etc. and a lack of thorough and correctly worded guides. Crafting and recycling are quite ingenious, though even refined item drops are increasingly rare at even level thirty. (There seem to be 100 levels, currently.) You'll also feel a lack of customization while playing, and costumes alter everything including hair color and style. (Though neither is customizable at character creation, and there are few avatars.) Furthermore, one of the three races is unavailable and mobiles seem redundant often times renamed but not resized or altered in color. Skills don't quite vary between races and are often just renamed while maintaining the same overall effect (at least in the first forty levels). Finally, the game crashes often, and while the team says they are working on it, information on key game elements: stability and the inclusion of the other race, information is sparse and not forthcoming without knowing the correct people. My advice: if you're a tester and enjoy getting your feet wet to find errors and bugs while enjoying a gem in the rough, give Chaos Online a chance. Otherwise, go ahead and wait for the open beta or even better the official release. No matter your decision, keep an eye on this one if you're a hardcore f2p/p2w player. :IGN: Medal
Overall, I'd have to honestly give it a 5 out of 10, but once the leaks are stopped and all classes introduced, I'll raise it to a 6.5-7/10. |
