Thing is , nothing is free to play. Even if they handed it to you on a plate with level 1 to endgame without having to take your wallet out once it would still exact a cost of your time, which, in the case of this game, is more valuable than a monthly sub.

Actually star trek online is kind of introducing a new  f2p system, where players that use the game free without using their wallet will farm for stuff  and trade them and then from there they can have hugh end gears

and Kevjards this game actually as both standards you take control of your ships and then you come close to a planet and you land on the funny looking planet and you actually either talk diplomacy or start firing and say sorry later
