Engineering Report Arrives

The new letter goes into some detail about the forthcoming Update 4, The Foundry and the announcement that more free content will hopefully be released before Update 4.

April Ask Cryptic Arrives
The April edition of the ongoing Star Trek Online Ask Cryptic series has arrived on the official site. The questions come directly from fans and are answered by STO's producer Dan Stahl. This month's topics range from the possibility of altering PvP to a more FPS perspective to voice chat to whether or not the Typhoon class will ever be made available to players.

The Foundry Officially Released
Cryptic Studios has announced that The Foundry has officially left beta. The Foundry allows players to create their own custom missions and share them with other players. Devs have also announced "Spotlight Missions" where they will feature content created by players using the tools contained in The Foundry.

Original Series Costume Packs
The Cryptic Online team has revealed new costume packs for purchase in the Star Trek Online C-Store. The newest additions to the C-Store include costume packs that will make Kirk proud. Original Series Packs include a ship interior, Federation dress uniforms, the bridge, access to a Federation Class F shuttle and more. If you're a fan of the series that started it all, you have to check it out!

Emmert Takes Over as CEO
John Needham has left Cryptic Studios and Jack Emmert has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Needham has left Cryptic to 'unspecified other opportunities in gaming'. Emmert is now the top executive at Cryptic and will report directly to Atari.

Engineering Report Published
Star Trek Online executive producer Daniel Stahl has published the first Engineering Report for 2011. With STO approaching its first anniversary, Stahl has lots to say about what the team has been working on. Included in future updates will be the continuation of the Romulan story line, a week-long birthday bash, improvements to the Foundry system and the future implementation of the Duty Officer system.

Guramba Siege Destroyer Coming Tomorrow

Season 3: Genesis Coming in December
Star Trek Online Season 3: Genesis is coming this December according to a new overview page on the official site. In Season 3, sector space has been overhauled, item sets will be introduced and players will be able to create their own missions. Called "The Foundry", player created missions will enter beta testing when the season begins. Players can create and share their missions with others. In addition, players will be able to replay their favorite missions.
