I think the "Enterprise" series is the best so Archer is my favorite.

Jean-Luc Picard, IMO is the best Star Trek Captain of all!  The most politically sound and the most professionally carried personally that Captains should portray.  A very commanding role model and very intimidating presence.  I am a TNG fan obviously.

I would vote Kirk only because who couldn't love a guy to whom......Every. Single. Word. Is. It's. Own. Sentence!

Also I loved the fact that he couldn't even get into a minor shoving match without ripping his shirt.

I'd have to go with Picard, unless I can choose Riker.  He's the man... like, the later Kirk lol.

IF non-federation captains are also allowed... than it's THIS dude:

Captain Thalian Okona aka, Star Trek's Kyle Katarn hehe

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward. Sorry TSW.

Hands-down, no doubt about it, is even much of a contest....

Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise-D is the best Captain the Federation has ever, or will ever see.

That being said, Kathryn Janeway is pretty bad-ass and has earned my respect numerous times. If Picard wasn't around I think I would have to say that Janeway was my favorite captain overall.

Kirk...I was never a real big fan of James T. Kirk, but I think my bias stems mostly from how horrendously the part was played by William Shatner in the original series, and to a lesser extent, the movies. I actually like the character of Captain Kirk, he's a pretty rugged dude when you get right down to it, and while nowhere near as intelligent as Picard, Janeway, or even Sisko, he is a pretty formidable tactician.

Picard is a better captain, the way his personality is and just the way he treats his crew definitely gives him more character depth.  So i liked picards character better.

Now i would like to go back to the fact that when you ask the question who would win in a fight (throwing aside timeline differences)... That would be kirk kirk is a much better strategist than picard hands down... A living legend...

Janeway because she's incredibly smart, resourceful, and she's got one of those classic mid-Atlantic accents. I like all the captains, though, except Kirk. I'm 20 so I didn't grow up with the series and now when I watch the original, it feels very awkward and too many episodes are about current events in the 60s.

I believe Picard is the perfect example of a a true explorer, actually the mission of Star Trek, He was brave and was able to aviod combat using  deplomacy.  When that failed he kicked butt..

Capt. Janeway always! First female captain AND she got her crew home from the other side of the galaxy!

I have to agree, Capt. Janeway =)
