Start worrying about other players in a game and dont just play

Been playing STO since it whent free to play ( training a long skill in EVE and just came out of a long stretch in low sec, soo need a little breather hehe)

Just want to say I think this game is fun.. I just executed one of my duty officers for Incompetence and my Bridge crew of ORION slave girls with huge BOOBS are fun to play around with :)

Having fun killing everything in ground combat Using only my Bat'leth.. even though it made it a bit harder hehe..  and my Bird of PREY with Red War paint has become nasty with my latest uppgrades.. I personaly like to Torp things to death with Torpead full spread skill and Torpedo high yeild... Its fun when things go BOOM...

I like to do the player made content, that often is really good, and going out doing some random exploration for Dilithium.. You need dilithium do buy all the cool stuff, plus to convert to C points (cash), you can only convert about 8k per day so its gona take a really long time to convert it to anny decent amount of C points.. But as shit dont get destryed here I see little to no reason to buy the best ship for real money when I hit max level.. its still very cheap compared to paying a subscription.. And they havd the 2 year anniversary so I got both the Klingon and Federation version of the new ships, that you can use at highest rank... So I try that out before I invest anny real money..

All in all Im having fun and that is what gaming is about isent it... and Im having fun not paying one cent, so for me that is a WiN WIN.. we can argue all day long about how broken games are but if they are free I say why complain..

I highly recomend giving STO a try.. it has a crafting system that looks to be a little Interesting but I havent had time to cheak that out jet...all in all for  a free to play Title it gets a B+ from me..

To include some facts;

  1. The majority of Klingon PVE content (Featured Episodes) are literally the same exact missions as those on the Federation side.  Klingons have a handful of faction-specific story content.  If you would like to see how the Klingon Faction has been handled by Cryptic, read this article;  http://www.stowiki.org/User:Peregrine_Falcon
  2. You did not "Execute for Incompetence".  This is a Duty Officer ("DOFF") mission that you simply clicked a button and assigned a random crew member to.  It is in no way an immersive story quest/mission where you take your ship/crew along with you.
  3. Exchanging Dilithium for C-Points is not a 1 to 1 ratio.  Last I saw on the Dilithium Exchange, it was around 450-500 Dilithium to 1 C-Point, so if you want that 400 C-Point costume or 2,000 C-Point ship ... do the math.  You are looking at an immense, tedious grind, especially considering you are limited to refining 8,000 Dilithium each day.
  4. Most of the game is "free" now because F2P was launched a few short weeks ago.  No doubt in the next couple of weeks you will start seeing the arrival of "pay to play" content, which will only get added to from here on out.
  5. Yes, the Foundry does have some decent player created missions... assuming you are willing to wade through the thousands upon thousands of "junk" missions in there to find them.
  6. Large amounts of Dilithium are required to craft decent (rare/very rare) gear.  There is not much point in crafting uncommon gear as the items you will get via missions/random drops is generally good enough.
  7. You cannot craft anything and everything.  Certain items (consoles, weapons etc.) are available for Dilithium or STF grinding only.

Sure.  You can even play one yourself (Klingon side) if that is what floats your boat.  I would not get too excited... they will not do a whole lot or anything "slave girly".

So no 'mutiny' involving whips and stiletto heels? That is dissapointing.

The rate was at 174 yesterday, I cashed out all my dilithium and now have 980 c-points. Only 220 more and I will have a top tier ship that  iwanted since playing again.

My advice to anyone playing, resist the urge to use dilithium for anything, crafting especially. Ecredits mass up fast and most of what you need will be found in the exhange or after grinding STF missions, you will have all you ever need to be competitive.

At this point, my ship is maxed out with a a XI weapons and XI MACO, with a spare X Omega set to boot. And so far ,I have not spent one penny on the game. The game is fun, but I do worry that they will soon change the format because it is way to easy to get geared up without paying a cent.

I was quite lucky yesterday to get some for 130D/1C

Ive honestly not seen anything that i would need to spend real money on in this game. Its even more forgiving than DDO or LOTRO in that regard where you actively needed to grind for level-seals etc.

I mean economy wise dilithium to C store currency exchange rate seems very off at this point. The ships cost around 40.000 D in tier 2, even if you take 300D/1C (roughly double the current exchange rates) you still come away much cheaper buying it over C-store points than Dilithium.

I think the daily Starfleet Academy Event is helping in that regard a lot where you can grind for D a lot.

130? wow!

The best I saw was a week ago when I got some C for around 158. But you are right, the ship costs are very high when compared to Dilitium. But you can't obtain the Vice Admiral ships with Dilithium so its the only way I can get it. One more week of grinding should do it for me. :)

The thing is, as an F2P game its not supposed to be easy to top yourself out in best tier equipment. Else whats the point of paying customers.

Honestly, people rave on in this forum about F2P being P2W with item-shops and im totally aOK with it AS LONG AS:

- the game does not feature any competitive PVP (and by that i mean PVP that you actually take seriously, with ladders, tournaments, etc.)

- The gear is also obtainable for non-paying customers ingame.

So im even ok with stores in P2P titles, as long as they follow these rules.

You 2 have to understand I play EvE normaly.. so while you might complain that klingons got no pve content for me its just fine... I havent run more then 3 of the storyline(klingon specific quests) since I switched over from federation... I dont really need the game to amuse me.. I can amuse myself... As an example I spent some hours Perfecting my ORION girl crew to my liking, fixing boobs and faces and makeup, Doing some exploration just Roaming into the Quadrents where you scan down Sigs.. and doing them is fine for me.. Chatting up people, painting my ship.. and only using my Bat'leth in ground combat is choises I make.... Story and PVE conent are for Lazy people with no Imagination.. I used to RP alot in mmos also.. going to see if I can find a nice RP guild to join, because I think you can have alot of fun doing RP in STO... RP in EVE is almost dead these days sadly.. but in the glory days it was Awsome..

You have to understand that I'm used to WAY more repetetive and mindblowlingly  Boring PvE.. so for me Klingons are just fine in STO.. no need for Improvments... And I loled hard when got to kill of one of my duty officers, just a fun thing...even if it was just done by a push of a button..  I dont play MMOs for the PvE content... or the story It dosent Interest me much.. I like to just roam around and do what I like... STO is very limted compared to EvE but its free to play.. and I need a little break from EvE, things have gone badly and Im currently back in highsec licking my wounds... Ben subed to EvE since 2006... have about 120m SP on main 60m sp on my second toon and around 25m on my third... But as I mentioned in another thread " I sometimes test out other games for a change of pace" and STO is really not that bad... and for free to play I think its exellent..
