No matter how you try to polish this game it will and always will be a turd, (my opinion).

Yep.  I'm serious.  The crafting system is not the one the game started with.  It has been redone and is now identical to the archaeology system in WoW.  You find anomalies all over the place, collect them, and make stuff with them.  Is it LOTRO crafting or EVE crafting?  No, but it's not bad.  Better than what they started with.

All the raid bugs except Terradome have been fixed.  I don't believe you are able to make STF's with the Foundry yet.

But, even if you could...so what?  It doesn't matter WHO makes the content - we're debating what there IS.  So, speaking of the foundry, there are currently 3 episodes up and more soon to come.  I could care less if Craptic made them or Santa Claus.  The fact is, if they are there then I get to play them.  That equals fun.

And, if you're more into creation than playing...well, you can kick some butt in the foundry making stuff for me to enjoy.  Win/win.

Don't corner yourself with absolutes like "this game will and always will be a turd."  That's simply not smart and not true.  ANY game can be improved and/or fixed.  The worst launch of all time - AoC - has turned around and fixed itself in a year.  One of the great things about MMO's is that you CAN revisit them a year or more later and they may be a new and altogether better experience.  I played STO beta and thought it was garbage.  I started again a couple months ago and I'm now having fun!

If you're referring to me, I never said the weekly episodes were major content.  I said the Season 3 update (which was a major update) did those things.

Okay those who haven't played in a whle , here's a refresher .   ( Spoiler Alert , if you haven't done the mission )

It's long and monotonous , but it's the game in a nutshell . This is a weekly episode . The commericals are a major pain. Enjoy. This is why i left .  It's played on normal , so the player can solo. I don't see a reason to comeback for any reason , looks and plays the exact same as I left it. I check in every now and then on a friends account .

I despise games that are completely instanced.  I prefer persistent worlds that can be explored without having to grab a mission or a pre-made team.  Being able to meet people as you are out and about in your quest is much more desirable than a social lobby where you have to beg people to go into your instance.  I know a few of the instances were public, but they are few and far between and they still do not a persistent world make.  It's the entire reason why I did not like Guild Wars, the premise and content of the game is cool as I tried it out, but I just could not stand everything being instanced but the lobby area.

Cryptic prefers instances and lobbies to actual virtual worlds and aside from their typical customer service issues and attitudes towards gamers who don't like their style, I have no desire to play their kinds of games.

Especially when there are plenty of lobby type games that can be played for only the box price and no subscription or even better yet, free to play and free to download.

This is just my opinion and should be viewed as just that, an opinion

After a year I caved in and got this game, I was scared away from this game because of what people where saying and I'm sure it was for a good reason when It first came.

What ever the reason I have found this game fun and very interesting, I just love being a part of the Trek universe , like today I took my first trip to DS9 hung out in Quarks played some Dabo lol, anyways I think this game can have allot of potential so long as they keep adding the Trek content to make players like myself feel apart of the universe. It's not perfect but what MMO is?

I think people where just to hard on this game at first because It wasn't there vision of how a Trek MMO should be.

Bottom line, I will no longer listen to people on the forums because It came to my understanding the ones that bash the games really don't like any MMO or they would be playing a MMO instead of posting lol.

I feel that they will never be happy no matter what MMO comes out, they will fine the negative.

If you love Star trek you will like this game, If not then you where never a trekkie.

Also I canceled my WoW account after 6 years because I found a replacement : )

 Welcome to teh interwebz.

So to my question : What has dstahl and the team released that has changed this very boring game with no endgame content worth mentioning to a playable game now?

1.  As for boring, I disagree, I think space combat in this game is some of the best MMO combat to date in any game.

2. Like I said, it's not quite there yet, especially regarding end-game content, but I remain optimistic (they are raising the rank cap to Fleet Admiral, I think)

3.  Season 3 update list is here, so you can compare it to your old experience, I guess.

Currently, ground combat is being completely rebooted for the Season 4 update, they're working on adding Romulan and Cardassian playable factions, they're eventually going to add more bridge-based gameplay.  Fleets are going to get their own Starbases, customizable ship interiors are coming soon with working crafting areas, a Duty Roster where you can customize and control your ship's crew and a Chief Officer system where you can name department Chiefs and your Number One.  Way down the road they hope to institute a Poker mini-game (fans of the series know how important Poker was in Star Trek).  DStahl has also mentioned removing "areas" in the game to help make the galaxy seem more fluid.

Then of course, there's the Foundry which is going to be released in the next few weeks, which provides new content for everyone.

Another thing to mention - all their major updates (which have the quality of expansions in some regards) to the game are free, which kind of goes against the whole "Cryptic is super greedy" thing (I'm not defending them, just something to consider).

OF COURSE, this all remains to be seen, but I see a community that's really excited about where everything is going.

Sorry but this is just very wrong....

1. Space combat = flying around in a circle and while ok is not in the same league that SWG space combat was and SWTOR looks way more fun as well.

2. Nothing has been changed to the boring 4 STF's that were added to the game since launch. Even the promised 5th and 6th ones have been added to the "coming soon" list that Craptic uses for all the much needed stuff for STO thats going to fix all its issues. And of those 4 quasi end game mini raids 1 has constantly been bugged since day 1 and the others are relics of the EQ1 era of raiding with boss's that die in seconds after hours of grinding through trash mobs.

2.1 Raising the level cap has never been given any sort of time frame and is in the "coming soon" list of bullshit the STO Dev team spouts. Maybe when they do get around to it they might add in items and equipment for that level as well unlike with the current max level of Vice Admiral which has no items, ships or gear of any worth apart from crap white items :(

3. Season 3 added a revamped look to sector space, updated crafting with a new UI and added tons more crap to the c-store. But then when you look at everything thats been added to STO since day 1 it almost 60% C-store items.

While ground combat is getting revamped its months away in the "coming soon" bracket. Considering how small the Dev team is and with them spending 50% of there time on c-store items fleet bases, extra factions, working ship interiors and all the rest of the end game content is at least 6 months to a year away.

What major updates are you talking about? The so called weekly episodes that are 2-3 hours of content every couple of months that have mostly been bugged to hell. Not very much when you consider the games been out over a year now. As for craptic being super greedy (they are fucking rip off merchants) the first of the latest weekly missions is a shuttle only mission which is nothing more than an advert for the Delta Flyer c-store ship. Oh it was ment to be able to be gotten in game via crafting missions which strangly enough are still not in STO yet. Must be somewhere on the "comming Soon" list.

The community can be as excited as it wants to be but that wont make STO get anything more than a skeliton development team.

Wow...dude, you don't like the game.  We get it.  Do you really think all your railing here will convince anyone who is enjoying it to stop?

I'll make you a deal: you stop posting here trying to tell me why I shouldn't enjoy it and I won't try to convince you why space combat in STO rules AND (bonus!!) I won't go to the forums for the game you like and try to convince you why it's a piece of garbage.

Sound good?  Nice.  Moving along...
