YES!!
Cryptic is a great company, and I believe they can really do this thing with Star Trek, the right way.
This seriously almost 100% confirms it.

In case anyone else hasnt heard Cryptic recently anounced that they are adopting a full skill system, with levels for champions online. Basically You get to choose any skills you want at the beginning of the game, and further diversify your character later on by choosing more. Making it limitless in the types of classes you can create.
I think this will be a great mix of traditional leveling and skill based leveling.
With this said, I think they have seem through the champion online community that people dont like levels, or for the most part they dont like being confined to one class, and have listened to them enough to change the core design of their game.
This to me speaks very highly about their personalities as developers.
In my opinion, i believe the game will feature a robost skill based system, and feature avatars and ship interiors as the community wanted.

There has been tons of sources telling rumors of Cryptic picking up the title for months.
The thing im seeing that I guess your not is The Picture of Space the FInal God Damn Frontier right behind the countdown!!!
I mean, yes your right it could be anything it could be a sci-fi mmo thats original for all we know but we have been hearing about this STO mmo being transfered to cryptic for months now.
Its just simple deduction, Just because It isnt 100% doesnt mean it isnt the most logical assumption.
I could be wrong, yes, but I doubt I am, and if I am wrong, you can put this post in your sig ok?

If you look at the Pic that the Ticker is on its VERY close to pics that were released when STO was being done by Perpetual. Granted its not a given that its STO, and you cannot click on the link nor is there any info given at all on the site, but its the first real tangible evidence that all the rumors pointing at Cryptic as the company that bought the IP. Only time will tell.....in about 45 days |

It is the announcement of STO being in development. Nothing new that we don't already know.
ZZZZZzzzzz.... And that is why... Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness. |

Originally posted by keltic1701 They have on it on the main site for CO yes, and it says "Meanwhile" in comics normally meanwhile means "Batman is killing baddies" meanwhile... "This guy is doing this".
In other words for the CO site its saying "This is Champions Online" Meanwhile "We are also developing Star Trek Online".
The Fatal flaw in the asumption that the countdown has to do with Champions is that on the Cryptic page it clearly already has a Development tab under games for CO, and then another tab for the new game still under the games tab.
Why wouldnt they just put it under the appropriate CO tab if it was for CO. Also why doesnt it say Meanwhile on the cryptic page? O yes thats right becauce its relevant to the page because they are the one making it.
People need to use some simple deduction and logic before they jump to conclusions on these types of things. And just in case you hadnt seen, this STO Cryptic Idea isnt new, it was unoffically confirmed by TreKmovie.com, the same site that knew the new Trek Movie would be a prequel months before the rest of the press, and also confirmed the new line of Trek Themed events in las vegas before they were announced publically.
Here is the link. http://trekmovie.com/2008/03/13/cryptic-confirmed-as-new-developer-for-star-trek-online/
Im open to discussion on this, but to disprove that it is in fact a STO MMO im going to need you to provide me with some hard evidence.

I fail to see how your associating Cryptic with that interview. Everything I come up with on Ryan Dening associates him with PE. The same for Greg Fallace. It also appears that interview is from 07. Or rather in the area of 07 - Jan 08. . |

Ok.. The background from the timer is taken from the article( the top picture). The article itself is old and worthless which is why I couldn't find the relation. I was looking in the wrong spot. Good find or whatever. I still don't think the timer is for ST:O. Maybe an Easter Egg.
Why would they hype it to compete with their current project? Its surely not a beta anouncement after only a few months. If it is the game hasn't changed much from PE's design. |

Beta....lol no. It'll just be the announcement that they are developing it. As of right now there's no official word on who if anyone is developing it. This could just be Cryptic's way of hinting it to start the hype. Why wouldn't they hype all the projects they are working on? They are in the business to make money...you don't get money unless you generate interest in your product. This is just the start of that. The two games would be targeting the same general market, MMO's...but they target different niche markets within the larger MMO market. EVE Online and SWG would be direct competitors for STO...among other Sci-fi MMO's. For Champions Online the only direct competitor they have is City of Heroes/Villains as they are the only comic book MMO I know of. With that magazine shot it pretty much confirms Cryptic is the STO developer or at least are tied to it in some way. That much is clear from the use of the image. |
