I really think CCP could do a good job with STO if they listen to the playerbase like they do with EVE which is gaining in more popularity and subs and the gameplay is the sandbox which those are always the best if CCP can do it I would be all for it not Blizzard though level based progression in STO no thank you!!! Skill based progression in STO is the only way to go. SANDBOX is the only way to go with this game period!!!!! http://www.speedtest.net/result/1775656162.png |

Greetings,
CBS will need to do two things to make STO successful. 1) Hire a company with a PROVEN record, able to deliver complex dynamics. 2) Finish the game, i.e. Klingon and Rihannsu playable characters. Making the game "Federation Boy Scout Chatroom Online" will fail utterly 3) Respect the Hardcore fanbase of Star Trek. As I have mentioned in the Legacy debacle, the Hardcore is the only core.

This thread was started 3/08/08. It is now 4/22/08. People think news will break at E3. What will you do if it doesn't? What is soon, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 5 months, 9 months, a year or more? Don't hold your collective breath on this one.

I think the official announcement will be made at next year's GDC. And that is why... Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness. |

Edit: Good lord, you even hve a "source" inside Bethesda and you still didn't know their parent company had a $300mil funding boost specifically to produce an mmo, and not only that you claim to know that Bethesda have no interest in developing any mmo at all, ever? lol Your "source" (if you have one) is a tea boy at best, time to get a new one. ...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought. |

Oh I'm sorry, I don't have a podcast so the fact that I posted factual information (with links) can be overlooked? No problem mate, you can carry on believing that Bethesda and/or their parent company are definately not interested in developing ANY mmo, the $300mil funding boost never happened and lil Zach has watertight inside sources at Bethesda. Whatever helps you sleep at night. ...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought. |

Zorvan, would you be so kind and dispense this Dracus character? He is making a mockery of my vision and it is essential we reafirm my zero tolerance policy!

Hey there good ol'buddy pal Zorvan... have we ever disagreed, eh? Yeah, just point that blade over there, out of the way. No need for that. Aren't we all friends?
But, but, I am serious. You know, those pencil neck geeks, grit eatin' freaks, scum suckin', pea heads with lousy physiques. Put your trust in Blassie.

dracus is an example of what happens to bright well-meaning star trek fans after they play more than 10 hours of Star Trek Legacy (a thousand curses upon it and upon Maddoc). He should be pitied, put into rehab and hopefully healed.
