I'll keep the review short because the game isn't worth the effort of going into detail. It launched with a lot of hype (but no review copies prior to launch) and fake "10/10" reviews posted by devs posing as customers (on Metacritic). How did users know they were fake? A couple gushed about how great co-op was at launch ..but co-op didn't work at launch for customers. That feature is handled by Steam's servers and no one could get on for about a week. The fake reviews were removed.
Resist the impulse to buy and instead wait a couple weeks for the release of the film 'Star Trek Into Darkness'.
Graphics: 7/10 , Music: 8/10, AI:1/10, Voice acting: 7/10, Originality:2/10, Controls (keyboard): 2/10, Bugs: lots. Replay value: 1/10, Ending: 1/10, Story: 8/10 (Genesis device story rehashed with Gorn in place of Khan)
Overall rating: 2/10.
AI is awful. In the solo campaign you choose Kirk or Spock...whichever character you don't choose to play will tag along to provide the illusion of co-op. However, the NPC gets lost and says "no" when commanded to come, gets stuck running and won't stop, followed my character up a cliff - got to the top and then ran away!, useless in combat - either it stays behind cover and won't shoot or runs out in the open and keeps calling for help when shot, is useless for sneaking around enemies - jumps out and starts shooting... the list goes on and on. I completed most of the game solo because the NPC was lost and would instantly appear when required for a co-op animation.
