thought i would take another look at star trek online..so i logged in and went to d/load the client only to be told by my anivirus that what i was downloading was a virus along with the game..i have mcafee..anyone else had this problem..if so what did you do?i know its highly unlikely there will be a virus but it just seemed strange to get that on screen

I don't use McAfee, did it happened right at the start? Just a wild guess, Cryptic uses Pando for both STO and CO, and a few antivirus prog don't like that (with a reason I might add, Pando s*cks :) ) There's the game client up there as well, you can download it directly via torrent or steam, etc.

I don't have McAfee (and downloaded through Steam), so didn't experience the problem, but what Po_gg said is likely correct. From this thread, it looks like some others have had it come up too: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=366291 I doubt it's a virus, just the AV reacting to the download as if it were. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

on top of that, McAfee is terrible. One of the worst on the market right now. |

Yeah, ditch McAfee, it's almost as bad as Norton. For me, Microsoft Security Essentials does everything I need it to, and it's free. |
