2389 Romulus destroyed and alternate time line created 2399 Peace Treaty between Klingons and Federation dissolves 2409 STO begins There's a nice graph in the link. "Star Trek (the new movie) takes place in this alternate reality. This is explained in the film in a conversation between Uhura and Spock on the bridge of the Enterprise. Star Trek Online is set in the "prime" Star Trek reality. This is the timeline of the five television series and the first 10 movies. It is the world in which the Gorn attacked Cestus III, Kirk fought Khan in the Mutara Nebula, Picard explored the galaxy, the Federation fought the Dominion War, Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant and Captain Archer and the crew of the NX-01 showed us how it all began. Events in the movie that happened in the prime timeline (the destruction of Romulus, and the disappearance of Spock and Nero) have affected STO. " If you don't want to play the game, don't bore everyone by stating as much. Just don't play and move on because nobody cares to hear a soapbox. |

I think they pulled little movie stunt so that they could do whatever they wanted with future movies. Basically it's like starting the 3rd season of a show with "the entire second season was a dream" garbage. You are playing a video game. By definition that means you are not hardcore. |

Pretty much. As a sci-fi flick, it's okay. As a Star Trek "prologue" film, it sucks. |

If you're going to stick it out there, don't be afraid if you get it cut off. |
As someone who was not a true trekkie, I can say that I loved the movie and it definitely got me more interesed in STO. I can't wait for the next movie and to see what happens with STO. |

Greatest threat to society is letting casualties of puberty reproduce. |
Well the movie was better than any of the next generation movies but that isn't saying much. |

Perhaps I read this part too literally.. "Events in the movie that happened in the prime timeline (the destruction of Romulus, and the disappearance of Spock and Nero) have affected STO.
