The ships look cool, however the player models really lack something or at least in this shot they just look so skinny and out of wack.  Possibly a bad screenshot.

The medical officer on the front lines wow the face is all out of wack, and what up with 2 andorians in star fleet uniforms, I did not know they were in the federation.  Maybe 1 transfer officer but 2?

Yea they need to do some tune up on the character faces,  now like I said they done a good job on the ships.

Andorians are one of the founders of the Federation. As for the models themselves, you can alter any of the body proportions so if you don't want them to look like that you can change them.

It's that 8 ½ heads tall design crap.  It's supposed to make figures look more heroic.  I think it looks out of place and crappy.  Design is subjective. *shrug*

I think the characters look pretty good. Blue uniform can denote science officer, not necessarily medical officer, and it's also not unheard of for the medical officer to get into the fray - Bashir killed his share of Jem'Hadar on DS9.

Such courage in fighting for the status quo!  So rebellious! I look forward to your campaign to keep cheese in the grocery store.

Indeed. Beverly Crusher saw some action too. Heck, Bones had to mix it up with some hand-to-hand combat as well. I think the characters look fine. Hopefully it'll play as good as it looks.

Looks really good.  I agree with a previous comment the characters look a little skinny or something.  Other than that though, nice job.

I know it's entirely about personal taste, but I think the characters look at least twice as good as what we're seeing from TOR, as ecstatic as I am about the latter. It's ironic that TOR went the superhero route while STO took a more realistic (if still highly idealized) direction, considering Cryptic's past versus BioWare's.

It's the space shots that make me cringe, mainly the starships. They just don't seem to be utilizing the engine even half as well as the asteroids, planets and characters. In the vast majority of screenshots, the starships look like they were pasted into the scene rather than being a part of it, yet then there stunning exceptions like these beauties:

Which easily give EVE a run for its graphics budget. Stop confusing me!

You need to watch something other than Enterprise. The Andorians have always been in the Federation.

I believe Manny Coto once said, that if Enterprise had gone on for a 5th (and possibly upto 7) seasons, the Andorian Shran would've joined the Enterprise crew.

Also, it's been pretty well estabilished within 40+ years of Star Trek that Andorians were one of the Federation's founding members. The list goes as such:

Humans
Vulcans
Andorians
Tellerites

During the 4th season of Enterprise, they were gradually building upto making a formal alliance within these 4 species. A "coalition of Planets".

I do not have a problem with the design, per se. The graphics themselves are...*cough* stellar, but something about the models leaves me wanting, and it is not the height. That is classic art, but I am sure that is something that can be changed when creating a character, so that is not a big deal for me. There is something about the faces that feels...perhaps plastic is the best word here. I find it quite unpleasant, and I could not play the game with the models looking that way.

...You would not play a game because you don't like the way the character models, which take second seat to the starships anyway, look? That seems kind of silly to me but to each their own :D

Personally I don't see anything wrong with them. Of course, they could be SNES sprites as long as the ships look good as far as I am concerned.

Yes they are part of the federation , but have you ever seen one as part of a Star Fleet Crew?

I dont ever remember seing an andorian on any crew. Tell me the episode and I ll go pull out the dvd.

The only time I remember andorians being used to any lenght was in enterprise - cough cough and I consider that show about as bad as the last move we got. I have to say I did nto think any move would be as bad as Search for spock, but that movie that J.J. Abrams did was the worst move in the entire history of Star Trek.

I just hope the character customization allows for me to make my crew look like the cast from cheers. Always wanted the cast of cheers to be in an episode of Star Trek. Sam as the Captian, woody can be the science officer who is dumb rather than smart. Norm and cliff can sit up front navigating the ship, carla on communications, frazier as the ship doctor, coach down in engineering. Diane will of course play nurse chaple. As long as I can customize my ship crew to look like them, the game will be perfect.

I've seen them in group "extra shots"

But really when was the last time you saw something that wasn't a Elf on a fenderation ship (worf being the exception)

Every show is predominently humans or pasable as human to cut down on makeup costs. Even Nelix is just a guy with facial hair!

If you watch the character Creation Trailer you can see that the screenshots are only a quick mockup to test the environments and stuff. Not that they look bad. But the game still has three months til launch. I expect more polish. Check out the Champions Online character Customization. Cryptic is not slack with their character or chip models.
