And what exactly is your idea of a Paladin?

arent they are borrowing kinda alot from world of warcraft?, that snowy place looked the same as the dwarf starting area.. he was atacking a 'tauren', he then warped to goldshire.. is it the same engine or something? the stats when you hover over a weapon are allso the same aranged, not to menntion the inventory. chat bar..
the whole stile of the game..
just seems like a rippoff to me.

I had a good laugh zechz. I was watching this vid with my wife and said, "a tauren? is this the wow dwarf starting area? did he just warp to Goldshire?" then i read your post. lol...sigh. Honestly, no imagination from these devs at all. Totally uninspired. Just seems like WoW on "slightly more difficult mode".

Let's get one thing straight. Blizzard does not own taurens, orcs, elves or any race of creature. Concepts can be shared between games. In an MMORPG, alot of things will resemble another game. Its called building blocks. Yes this game looks like WoW. No it cannot be sued by Blizzard, as they would of already sued the original game creator. Yes this is another Chinese import known as RA in Western Asia. ANd yes this game will be alot better than the standard f2p mmo's out there. One huge fact being that you can only go up to lvl 50. Most f2p's from china or japan have a crazy number of levels. Lowest I have ever seen was 80 with Knights Online.

Oh and I forgot, you can quest throughout this whole game and never really see the grind. Play RA and you will see. This is not to say you can't grind.

To the people saying that Blizzard does not own the rights to "Tauren", they might not own the rights to Taurens but that is an original creation from Blizzard. The reason elves and dwarves are used in other games is because they have a long standing basis in fantasy. Taurens are not from Tolkiens work or anyone else in the fantasy realm. They have similar kinds but not exactly Tauren. This is a complete sneak job by this company seriously! Not to mention the game takes all of the interface and even jumping animations from WoW. I do not even like WoW which is why this sickens me so much.
Sat Aug 30 2008 10:08PM
Bammetje writes:
@Roosevelt - So i suppose you're sick of Blizzard too, cause they used (or did a sneak job - your words) so many features that have their origin in other games. Like Daoc, Lineage, EQ and so on.
About the Tauren: its a mythical figure. First described thousends of years ago. So Blizzard used that one too (i guess you would call this also a sneak job).
If your ignorance is real, you're funny. If you just post without thinking, it is an annoyance. I surely hope you dont know any better.

All those things you see in MMORPGs even WoW have existed in lore, legends, and myths long before Blizzard's employees even existed. Dungeons and Dragons in fact had tauren, elves, dwarves, and snowy places long before WoW or Shadowbane. This game is not a knock of WoW nothing is a knock of WoW. Stop comparing everything to WoW. You don't have to play this game or any game and if you are not going to who the hell wants to know what you think about it.

In Response to Bamm, I dislike world of Warcraft, Highly! I am an oldschool UO player, who stuck with the game even after they made some tasteless choices to the game. I have never once read the word "Tauren" in a mythology book. As someone else stated "Minotaur" is used alot! The name specifically I have not heard before world of warcraft. Now if you can show me a site of mythologoy, norse or whatever, that says the name "Tauren" for Bull people, then I will agree with you. Until then I am talking about the fact they took not only the concept that WoW drew from but also the name they created themselves.

Mushukyou, your obviously posted that comment only to advertise for another game. Sadly, even this game looks just as good as DarkFall. Of course it has levels, most RPG's do. Sandbox MMO's don't have levels and therefore differ alot from level based MMO's. That doesn't mean ones better than the other. It's all a matter of preference. I hate sandboxes. They lack direction, as everything is basically left up to you. If i wanted to play an MMO that I had to create the world, I would just get into game development. But this is of course my opinion. One thing I won't do though is this. Go watch a DF video and advertise for WAR or some other game by saying the other game sucks. It's called immaturity. And you seem to garnish a lot of that. Sad isn't it? :(

I'm awaiting Darkfall too. If it's as good as it looks, then I think it will blow WoW away for a lot of people.
Not for everyone though. As you can see here, everyone likes to make fun of the WoW clones, but a lot of people still want to play them. Some people won't give Darkfall a chance because they're scared, some people just want what they're used to, some people just aren't the hardcore MMO type.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with copying(concept/design, not textures, models directly from WoW's data files) from a successful franchise only a fool wouldn't. This is a new development team and they have to start somewhere and the best way to do that is take a working formula and tweak it a bit.
The game was developed by "Taiwanese" people. The people talking at leipzeg are just the Western Localization Team.
A Tauren is just a ripoff of the Minotaur by design. Unless Runewalker used the exact same Texture(made by blizzard), exact same concept art(made by blizzard), exact same Landscape(generated by Blizzard), exact same storyline(written by blizzard), Blizzard can't do anything.
Fact is if you draw/write/generate it yourself you can use it if it is not copyrighted.

Every developer did have that mind set. Every 2d platformer is a copy of Mario with different sprites and slight tweaks. Mortal Kombat is just an attempt(successful) to steal fame from Street Fighter 2. Every Castlevania SOTN and up is a copy of Metriod with Castlevania lore. WoW copied EQ, EQ copied some MUD.
Guess how you make money in today's industry. You copy from Successful franchises.
No matter what game you look at it bounces back to some old game.

There's a difference between blatantly copying a game, and incorporating features of 1 game to another.
Mario had unique features, WoW actually has very few unique features.
You might see what features you like, and give your game a new look and feel. This game seems to be trying to capture the same look and feel as WoW, with a very half-hearted twist. (Slightly more Anime! how original).

Whoever keeps screaming "WoW Clone" at every new mmorpg is a moron. The entire Warcraft universe is a clone of old fantasy stories. Even Blizzard's very first Warcraft game was copied straight from old RTS games. If Blizzard got sued over "copying" other games then they wouldn't have created WoW for all the fanbois to yell "omgz they copy WoW! sue sue sue!!".
Also the fact that a "WoW clone" is going to be f2p can only be good news for gamers since they can save money playing a decent quality game during this crappy recession we're in.

The game is fun to play. And it is quite possible to play it without really paying for anything. But to get the real good stuff or decorate your in game home it will cost you. So you pay for something once when you need it and not $14.99 a month for it on the P2P game. For the people who can't afford the monthly fee or who work a lot or someone like me who hardly has time to play anymore this is the ticket!
That being said... You people who think World of Warcraft was the first ever game of it's kind. Or that it's graphics have been copied you better think again. Years before Blizzard even made the first Diablo a company from the UK named Games Workshop had a Warhammer miniatures game. When the first Warcraft RTS came out and they used the same exact graphic of the orcs that Games Workshop used almost 20 years ago!!. So stop thinking WOW was the first ever game of this type and that they invented this style of graphic. Get over it!
