This game might have potential...potential doesnt mean squat to major markets when a game, even though in beta, has an economic and crafting system that is so flawed.
I will ride it out for the time-being, but if the clowns at Frogster don't work out the kinks soon...here comith another sadly mediocre mmo.
Just some insight from the US forum.
Quoted by McDaniels; Just a little update. Today i leveled my armor crafting from 20-22. It took about 400 resources and 50 purify runes, and about 25 crafts of the 20 and 21 recipe for each. Crafting should not be about "it pays off at level 9 billion" that implys that there is no use to crafting until max level, and you might as well buy all the resources from noobs. This is not how crafting should be. The soltuion to this problem is simple. ADD LOOTED RECIPES that are A. equal or better than quest and looted gear. We need blue rarity craftable gear. LOWER CRAFTING COSTS lower the cost of crafting an item by roughly 1/4. LOWER RECIPE COSTS they should be about 50% as expensive as they are now. and for the love of god can we get a Frogster response in here. At least let us know you're hearing this. |

Yes... we heard you. Yes, we are working on it... No, I don't have an ETA. OK? Jörg "Kerensky" Koonen |

I disagree. Crafting should cost you something. Your complaint sounds like you want an easy street to making currency. Buying resources from new players is a great way to distribute the wealth on a server.

I agree, when I first started playing WoW I chose blacksmithy. I spent countless gold on the damn profession, and I still cannot make a weapon that is greater than some world drops, or instance weapons. So I dont know where you're gettin all pissy because the game doesnt hold your hand and give you everything you need. Honestly, what monsters really run around with recipes :). It's not shiny, why would they care. I have not yet played RoM but I plan on it when i actually get it downloaded (I dont have the best connection at home, wireless internet from Alltel).
But I love WoW, and from all that i've read about it, and all the searching i've done on their site I think I will honestly keep an eye on this game, Keep up the good work Kerensky I admire your and your company for the work that they are doing instead of being a detractor. |

Yes, crafting should cost you something... time, and money. The OP only wants to show the imbalance to crafting, not want easy street. You are reading too much into his post. Crafting should be #1 fun, it is a game not a job. #2 it should be meaningful, I dont want to grind lvls and lvls of AS just so i can make crap noone wants to buy cuz it sucks. I say let the players craft highend merchandise but for a price thats reasonable. (ie. time, money) I dont want to feel im crafting for nothing. Best way to distribute wealth? Player crafted items are at least equal too or better than loots and items decay over time. This also help to build a community feeling. Doubt this will ever happen though. |

I'm ok with not being able to make the best stuff when crafting but there really are a few issues with the system that do make it kinda pointless.
The real good stuff you craft for the Windmill instance , requires a very low crafting skill...so thats not an incentive to craft. Some stuff costs more to make then to sell but I have found a few items that I can craft for cheep and sell for more to a vendor.
But in the long run it doesn't matter since there isn't any high lvl worthwhile things to craft. At lvl 12 blacksmith I can almost make one of every type of weapon. At the same time I can kill things and find many different types of each weapon. Basicly I can craft a lvl 3 dagger and have to wait till 14+ to craft my next dagger.... while I can find plenty on different daggers in between then. Along with the looted recipes being greens there isn't much to look forward too crafting.
Also potions need to be balanced...they are one of the few things worth crafting but are way to expensive. Make games you want to play. |
