Wolfdor writes: So much potential, but it looks like it's very dumbed down for the kiddie consoles. I really don't like the Guild Wars type of select X amount of powers to bring with you either. I never saw Superman in the comics not be able to use his Super Breath, because he forgot to select it to his kiddie controllers X button. Tue Jul 29 2008 11:00AM
Gleeb writes: as an mmo lover and someone with a console i can only say. at least its a start, the console community needs a good mmo :) Tue Jul 29 2008 11:19AM
daarco writes: Hey! This seems really good. I was not expecting that. From whet i see here...i will play it. Tue Jul 29 2008 11:24AM
bverji writes: The fact that it's a console game might mean that the game won't suck. Not that I'm a console player, but SOE's console games are much more polished then their PC games. From the game play video it looks pretty good I must admit. Tue Jul 29 2008 11:59AM
JestorRodo writes: Oh , a chance of dual platform. Good that PS3 and PC can play together - bad is that the graphics and game play is limited to that of the PS3. Not sure is that is a goood thing. Tue Jul 29 2008 12:35PM
achesoma writes: Looks like fun but seems way too simplified to be paying a monthly fee. Just looks like a typical action game. The only elements of a rpg I can see are levels. Tue Jul 29 2008 12:37PM
xBlackSabbat writes: Okay.. Honestly.. The whole interaction with DC characters is really cool.. And I like the whole action mmo part.. But the graphics and everything just don't seem that great to me.. And.. I'm a big fan of City of Heroes/Villains.. I know these people tried to sue them for "stealing" their idea about making a super hero mmo.. and.. I'm glad CoH won.. Because that game is truely amazing to get away from all the mainstream fantasy games. Overall.. I give it props.. But it still needs a lot of work.. I saw a video that was real glitchy and unsmooth... Tue Jul 29 2008 12:45PM
Xzeth writes: So, basicly another CoH/CoV but with DC Junk and other crap. Don't get me wrong, im a big fan of CoH/CoV, not that hyped about this thou. But, with a free trial, i can see myself wasting some time on it, as long as i don't have to pay for it :) Tue Jul 29 2008 1:27PM
kalanthis writes: Looking forward to this and how it compares to Champions Online. Was a huge fan of CoH and was really looking forward to MUO. Agree with other posters about the game seeming a bit simple. I hope they manage to put a healthy dose of RPG into this MMO..if they do they may have a winner. Tue Jul 29 2008 3:00PM
Enigma writes: looks a LOT better than Champions Online. We'll see what happens with it. Tue Jul 29 2008 3:43PM
IAmMMO writes: Ubisoft plans for updating COX better be a huge one or it's game over for a customer base with DC online and CO being put out there. For me I'll be going for DC online. It's got the far better, and popular super heroes and villains than Champions online. Tue Jul 29 2008 4:02PM
Saurus930 writes: A dual-wield speedster with ice powers. Not much of a theme there, eh? I hope this game will be the best one ever, as I hope every new game will be. Time will tell... Tue Jul 29 2008 4:15PM
jinxit writes: IAmMMO, NCsoft own COX not Ubisoft. But still...i currently play cox but have been wanting more of late and CO/DC may give me that...what where marvel thinking when they pulled out of the mmo deal with cryptic...i bet there feeling really dumb round about now heh Tue Jul 29 2008 4:36PM
Fariic writes: This game could make me buy a PS3. If it doesn't offer cross platform then I'm even more likely to buy a new system. PS3 graphics potential is on par with some of the best gaming rigs out. Same goes for the 360. Microsoft should have stayed with Cryptic and continued with Marvel Online. Tue Jul 29 2008 4:39PM
grimfall writes: This is a speedster character, she can run up buildings, turn people and objects into big ice blocks, bust out a couple of axes(?!?), punch with big snowballs on her hand... and oh yeah, she can lift and throw buses." I assume that they've just given this character the kitchen sink for the demo... Tue Jul 29 2008 4:54PM
Micro_angel writes: Ill give a try... trial account of course!! Tue Jul 29 2008 5:00PM
zmrz writes: Too bad it's SOE Tue Jul 29 2008 6:33PM
Eladi writes: Looks nice, good engine, but realy.. playing super man/girl and the other ionic dc univerce characters will get boring fast. "he look, Two super girls flying round and whats that, Six super ..boys flying behind them" From what i seen and read about this game it will be a fun game for about a month, maybe two and then its just epic fail. simplicity never works longterm Tue Jul 29 2008 7:21PM
M1sf1t writes: Don't listen to Eladi he doesn't know what he is talking about. You won't be playing a well known super hero like batman or superman. You will at times fight along side with them or help them but you will create your own unique superhero. Tue Jul 29 2008 7:29PM
chaintm writes: It has been said a million times cross platform destroys detail. They even said in the video "A limit amount of choices but the most important ones" this basically is saying, "how many buttons smashing does it take to play the xbox or ps3?" Those are the choices you can have, sure I can add and remove abilities (Something like guild wars) and to many people as myself that is not an MMO. Others have said it best, you may get a month or so out of it, just as you would any single player console game you get tired of because of the simplicity factor. If your going to go ahead and design in such a way, do yourself a favor as a dev and make it non-MMO. I predict failure, sorry but the truth hurts, history has proven that this sort of game design does not cross over well and I have yet to find a well-known MMO console game. There is a reason for it. MMO’s equal great detail and depth, you don’t get that from smashing four to eight buttons. If they are looking to win over the pc playing public with this sort of design it won't work. Save yourself the dev money and go console all the way if you are going to design games such as this. Think out of the box people! (Yes that was a pun) Tue Jul 29 2008 8:31PM
Loke666 writes: Actually, I think it at least looks very nice. City of heroes looks really boring and grey. To limit the number of powers you can have at the same time sounds like balance to me, I dont want to play a game where everyone is superman. To bad it is SOE making it, I dont have that good experience with them. But it could be worse, could be cryptic. Tue Jul 29 2008 9:03PM
Raspaloh writes: Coh/Cov player here will wait and see as it gets closer to launch. Tue Jul 29 2008 10:30PM
saturn1234 writes: for the most part cross platform will ruin the game. It severely hindered FF11 imo, which is still a great game, but its prevents the game from ever having an engine update or any kind of huge chances. Game looks like it couldve been really cool, but like 4 superpowers to use at once? Pretty lame imo. That guy is cute too :P Wed Jul 30 2008 2:10AM
dragkeeper writes: hmm is it going to be monthly fee? Wed Jul 30 2008 3:22PM
Obiyer writes: FFXI and Phantasy Star Universe are the only games I've played cross platform and I can say that it is visible that a game wasn't really meant for that environment. In FFXI you can't even alt tab out of the window and in PSU's case the game seems so awkward without being played with a controller. These are only one out of many things that make the game stand out as not a genuine port. Not to say it can't be a good game, there are a lot of FFXI and Phantasy Star fans, but from someone jumping in it does affect the game play and user experience to a great degree.
