DC Universe Online News - Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy to Add Voice Talents

Posted by Suzie Ford on Jul 21, 2010  | 17 comments in our forums

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy will be reprising their voice-over roles from the Batman animated series in the upcoming superhero MMO, DC Universe Online. Hamill has previously lent his voice to The Joker (Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: The Animated Series) and Conroy has played Batman himself (Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited, Batman: Arkham Asylum).

“We’re excited that not only will Mark and Kevin bring their talent back to the DC Universe as part of DC Universe Online, but we’ve hit the jackpot with a full cast that are veterans of movies, TV shows and games that our fans are crazy about,” said Sony Online Entertainment Vice President of Development, John Blakely. “Several of these actors are recognized as the definitive voices for these characters, and will help us in creating an authentic and exciting experience for fans when they get in the game.”

Hamill and Conroy are only two of the all stars providing voices to favorite characters in DC Universe Online. They join Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres, James Marsters, and Michelle Forbes.

I believe what he said was that he's done being Joker after Arkham Asylum 2. This voice work happened some time ago (don't know timeframe) and AA2 work may not have started yet.

Mark Hamil and Kevin Conroy really enhanced the experience in Batman: AA. Hamil in particular was awesome. I think this is great for the game.

I'm thinking this game is going to have better VO than ToR and they have got the one person that LA and EA should have head hunted to do some VO work. Not only is Hamill exception at VO work he is also iconic in both Batman the animated series and Star Wars. This is a good move by DC Universe.

Then a few years down the line they will remove the majority of voice-overs (EQ 2).

If Mark Hamill is done as Joker, it should be illegal for future games to feature the Joker with any kind of voice work.  Because Mark Hamill is the only Joker.  Ever.
