Update 8 Deploys
Sony Online Entertainment and the DC Universe Online team have announced that Update 8 has officially deployed. The latest patch brings the Research & Development system online. As the name implies, the new system allows players to create new items.

Lightning Strikes Released
Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the latest DC Universe Online downloadable content pack has been released. Called "Lightning Strikes", the new content includes the introduction of The Flash into the game as well as Electricity powers.

Lightning Strikes DLC Coming December 6th
Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the latest downloadable content pack for DC Universe Online will be released on December 6th. Called "Lightning Strikes", the new content will feature Lightning Powers, the Central City map will be added, a new duo adventure will be added and players will travel back in time to make sure Barry Allen becomes The Flash.

One Million Newbs Sign On
DC Universe Online went free to play just over a week ago. According to Lorin Jameson, over a million new players have signed on for the journey. According to Jameson, the split between PC and PS3 users is about 50-50.

According to recent information Tweeted by SOE's John Smedley, DC Universe Online's population is up 1000%. DCUO Producer Lorin Jameson has posted a new note on the game's Facebook page to address server woes and long player queues as a result of the explosive growth since DCUO went F2P last week.
