Anyone know what types of things are going to be for sale in the DCUO F2P cash shop?  I haven't read up too much on it as far as the interviews, etc. where they might have mentioned it (and don't have time to), so was hoping someone here could fill me in.  I got about 10 minutes into Champions Online, realized that I couldn't make the character I wanted as f2p, and uninstalled, so if this one is also going to make custom character pay only I'd life to save the bandwidth.  Thanks!

The last patch they did focused heavily on the cash shop in preperation for F2P

What I can remember seeing was...

Lots of fluff styles, glowing outfits, astro ones, bird head, just general styles.

Vault Tickets.

Repair bots "Too have a vendor anywhere" comes in handy for raids if you die alot.

Pet Trinkets, some summon nice little pets, others transform you into stuff ie: gorilla,  zombie, ect ect.

Legend characters, currently future batman / future joker.

obviously the DLC: fight for the light pack.

And some others I cant remember. Once F2P hits they'll be adding more ie: More bank / inventory spaces, increase in money cap, more character slots, the general we make the cashhhh add-on's

Vault tickets, repair bots for sure. They sell that now.

I'd guess costumes, PvP Legend unlocks, and zones/missions.

The biggest thing in the game is really costumes because it's a superhero/villain game so I'd guess that'd be a big seller.

Do they still have the incredibly low limit on how much currency you have access to in the game?  If so, I remember reading that you would need to buy tokens from the CS to make one time larger purchases, is this still the case?  Is there an option to make a one time purchase to entirely remove the limitation like in LOTRO, DDO, etc?

Not sure how the purchasing for the money works.

But I think I read somewhere that

Free players are capped at 1500

Premium at 2500

Goodluck to free players when they need to buy soda's for the alerts / raids, 900 a pop, jesus. And then the repair costs it's going too force you to purchase the upgrades.

Also most of the stuff on the Broker is 5k+ "EU side, not sure about the US"

afaik you can buy a token to remove it, but then again that's just me making that up from what they put on the forums/site.

MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly*

Lemme guess... Those that have an active subscription will have to buy this one as well? Much like that new race added to EQ2 early this year...

This is my fear.  I liked the game, but it seems as though I would be paying 14.99 a month to have access to in game currency.   That is the only thing on their matrix that I would be paying for really, I mean 9.99 DLC, even if released every month would be less than the 14.99 sub.  I will play the game and I would likely buy the DLC content and unlock some of the pvp characters, but if I feel as though I am basically paying 15 bucks a month  to lift the currency cap, I don't know if it is worth it.  Because at a certain point you can't even repair your gear with what they are allowing.

If it is a one time purchase to lift the cap forever, then I'm in.

Yes, although as far as I know, Future Batman / Future Joker are only skin based, as you can buy "With legend tokens, ingame currency" Joker and Batman.

Actually its a non issue for raiding and alerts, you can sell to the soder cola machine in those instances anyway. So you have to plan ahead.

A stack of 12 soder cola's sell for 1260, you have 28 slots.

You just have to be a little more creative about farming if you plan on using a free acount.

Im a life timer anyway so its a non issue to me. If I wasnt already I would have taken a lifetime sub today anyway. I have alot of alts and can garantee that Ill buy extra character slots as well. So Im more then content with what a payed sub offers extra.

Now unless SOE changed it you can get 2 cola's for free for killing five....or maybe 10 people in pvp.

in pve cola's drop on occasions but, unless you do something seriously wrong, running challenges and duos make you money.

Now if you convert that money in soder cola's. You can stash those up as backup cash.

And when you do run low on cash for repairs (running low on colas is unlikely if you use them as piggy bank) you just sell a stack of soder cola's

You wont get the best exchange ratio but then again.. thats normal in money laundry.

I'm not quite happy that the dlc is 1100 and you can only buy 1000 or 2000 of the currency....Typical.  I guess you can buy 1500 if you make 2 purchases.  Still though, I'm sick of cash shops doing things like this.  It makes me not want to purchase it.

Ok, I logged in for a few minutes this morning to get the lay of the land so to speak.  The first thing I looked for was a way to lift the restricted currency limit.  Sigh, there isn't one, only one time access to your escrow account (where your money you earn accumulates after you reach the currency cap).   On the other hand, I looked at the end-game gear, and none of it that I saw cost more than 400$ or so, so you still have access to the gear even with my currency cap of 2,000$.  So, I guess I have a question about where this currency cap will cause me problems (or will it ever?).  Since gear and cola are your primary expenses and it appears that those will be coverable, though tight, within the cap, where will I feel the pain of the cap?  This is still my biggest concern, though my concern with it has gone down quite a bit after a brief look around within the game.
