DC Universe Online is a free-to-play superhero / supervillian MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment that lets players create their own unique tights-wearing hero or villain and roam the streets of places like Gotham City and Metropolis fighting or creating crime. Players fight alongside such iconic DC Comics characters as Superman and Batman, Lex Luthor and The Joker, and many others. Excellent physics help bring comic book action and combat to life, all under the creative direction of noted comic book artist Jim Lee. DCUO is free-to-play, but also offers membership plans as low as $9.99 a month.

Out of left field, it seems that Cryptic Studios' Co-Founder Jack Emmert has been named as CEO of Daybreak Austin, the studio responsible for DC Universe Online.

XBox One players can finally enjoy DC Universe Online when it officially launches for the console later today. The XBox One version joins the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of DCUO and will contain the same content as all other platforms. There will not be, however, be cross-platform play.
All DC Universe Online players are invited to head to the game's test server to check out the forthcoming GU 59 that features "an expansion of the Loot Picker to all On Duty Content". Essentially the Loot Choice UI will be made available to earlier tiers so that solos, duos, alerts and raids have it available.
Ready to take on DC Universe Online's newest PvP challenge? You can do so starting March 19th. Called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, players can take part in a 4v4 double-bracket tournament. Players need to create a team on the US server and be ready to rumble on March 19th from 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern.

In celebration of its fifth anniversary, Daybreak Game Company has announced that DC Universe Online will now feature cross play between customers on PC and PlayStation 4 beginning the week of January 25th. In addition, a new XBox One version is in the works and will be available sometime later this spring.
The DC Universe Online team has revealed that Episode 20 will bring the epic War of the Light story arc to its conclusion. Players can choose to aid Star Sapphire or Nekron to see the epic conclusion.
