I love EVE. I'm an active subscriber and it is by far my most beloved MMORPG ever. I love the sandbox. I love the freedom. I love the challenge; the cutthroat players, the harsh penalties, etc. I love the corporations system.

EVE, for me, does just about everything perfect. CCP is far and away the most innovative developer out there.

However; I wish EVE was action-based. I do enjoy the combat, but I wish it was more realistic. The combat is fine, yes, but I don't really dig the 'passive' nature of it.

If Black Prophecy were a huge sandbox game like EVE- with open-ended play/PvP/clans-corporations/trade/etc -but with real-time action-oriented combat...I will get a damn BP tattoo.

Also, I know it takes additional time and whatnot, but I'd REALLY like to see all ships have a FULL cockpit view; meaning each ship has a different interior.

That is all.

I don't think BP is going to be an open sandbox game at all. But I mean i look at sandbox game as no load screens, landable planets, total ship customization, free and open pvp everywhere and a universe where I can align to a star and let it go for a week and see where I am :)

EVE has a lot of good qualities and I would like to see a lot of them in other space games. I especially like the skill training system in EVE.

A simple truth-"What people want and what is good for an mmo is not always the same thing"-mrw0lf

Game development costs big money, and companies have to pick and chose what features they're going to try and incorporate in their games, and which to leave out.   Not really possible to build the game you're looking for, esp on an indie budget.

But goals are good.

Isn't it very instanced and linear? Kind of like opposite of EvE. That was kind of my impression, sort of like the story mode in Freelancer, but with loading screens..

There are technical reasons for Eve having the combat system it does, and they relate to the same reason that a tweak oriented combat game like Jumpgate Evolutions uses instanced battlegrounds.

Long story short, don't hold your breath.

I doubt this game will even come close to the depth that EVE has, nonetheless I've been dyin' for an action based space fighter game.  Can't wait to take this one for a spin.  Hope comes out soon =D

This game seems as it is going to be much closer to the older twitch games such as Freespace, Wing Commander, Tie Fighter and all the others a lot of us probably grew up on. The skill system I believe is going to be experience/level based like most mmo's, and the higher your level the better ship/equipment you can use.

While this game will be fun to hop in and flash across space, guns blazing with all your friends, I would be highly surprised if it manages to get anywhere near the depth that eve has.

as a F2P game it may draw some players in, but, i dont really see it as having as much depth as Eve either,  nor do i particularly think it will even draw in many (any?) Eve players, i think your probably right in thinking it will be more a 'wing commander' type of game, probably the type of game you play when you have the odd 20 minutes or so...
