Definitely after E3, I think I'm going to give it a shot. Honestly from the title, I thought we were going to insult British Petroleum. This is better. |

Just so long as they do not cut their own throats by picking someone like Acclaim. Or by using IP locks at launch and fragmenting their community. A game called Spellborn made those mistakes, and not that long after the NA launch, the company went out of business. I've seen the BP videos, and it looks like an interesting game. I wasn't aware of their connection to Necron. |

Some small studios put out good games, some dont.
BP wont have the scope or complexity of EvE, a 7-year old maturing game.
And perhaps you were banned from their forum.
Newsflash. EvE is a 7-year old game due to organic growth from crap, and CCP has done a great job over 7-years. BP is "not" in year one yet.
Cry more, over what, god knows?

Neocron got done over because of it's origional publishers, which was CDV. I was there during the closed beta when they signed up with them and they were useless. They demanded changes to the game and didn't deliver their end. Then they went out of business not long after. They had to find a new publisher half way in to release. But it was already a bit to late by then. Not sure about these Gamingo guys either, they seem very....budget. I think BP deserves to have a better publisher.
But yea, cash shops arn't going to make an MMO successful. Sensible people don't like them. |

I have to concur with the previous poster about trying it for myself, I myself understand the mechanics behind game design and the complexities behind such a project. I have been following this project ever since its been announced and will definitely be trying it out. Neocron was one of the first attempts at an online game by Reakktor as far as i know. I have never played NC but i strongly believe that anything that you do for the first time will have its issues....Most of the time the first release by any company is a learning curve..... BP is Reakktors second attempt at an mmorpg and based off of what I have seen so far it looks very promising. And hopefully they will learn from the mistakes made in Neocron... Remember WoW wasnt the first game Blizzard released before the unleashing Titan of MMORPG'S. As I have said I will try it for myself before i pass judgement, but i hope that this game turns out to be amazing due to the lack of sci-fi space mmorpg's on the market. BP would be a great addition to the mmorpg genre if it actually turns out to be decent.... |
