I don't think I remember seeing an article describing death penalties but I know there will be some instanced combat areas and the mention of open PvP areas. All haven't been described in too much depth yet. But JGE hasn't released too much on that topic either yet. BP's combat from teh videos do seem fast paced like a Freelancer style combat.
