When we were creating Atlantica Online, we really wanted to emphasize the multiplayer element of an MMORPG. We developed a unique system for combat with our turn-based gameplay, and combined that with the ability to control and manipulate multiple characters (mercenaries). But we wondered, what more we could do to complement these innovative features and further distinguish Atlantica from other MMORPGs? One of our solutions: expand the possibilities for player interaction.
Giving players a variety of ways to work together, as well as fight against each other, was very important to us as we developed Atlantica. We wanted to provide players different aspects of the game that they could get immersed in, rather than grinding their way from dungeon to dungeon. Our hope is that this will ultimately make the game more enjoyable, keeping players coming back for more to explore.
We came up with different options for players to get in on the multiplayer act. One of the primary ways for player interaction is to become part of a guild. However, we wanted the guilds in Atlantica to be much more than just a chat room to discuss how to get past certain monsters. Being part of a guild in Atlantica offers many more benefits.
For one, you can travel to Guild Dungeons, which aren’t accessible to non-guild members. These exclusive areas can only be accessed after a guild leader purchases a key that grants a guild entry into the dungeon. Once you are in a Guild Dungeon, the opponents you will face there will be tougher than what you would find in a regular dungeon, but your efforts will be rewarded with greater loot.
Another bonus of being a guild member is crafting as a team. Being able to craft particular items that can be sold at the market can give players a substantial edge in Atlantica. Crafting through a guild means that every member is contributing towards the production of an item, which translates to more of them being built faster.
Guilds are also where players can become deeply involved in the role-playing part of the game. If your desired role is king, a guild is your path to the crown. If a guild accumulates the necessary Guild points, it can take control of a town. How well that guild governs its town, by managing issues like Security, Commerce and Culture, will determine how much money your guild can collect in taxes.
Guilds can even expand the level of player interaction through partnering with other guilds to form a nation. Here is where a thirst for power is rewarded - play your cards right and you can be named king of the country. As a nation, you can then challenge other nations in battles for supremacy.
If your pursuits are less Machiavellian or you’re just averse to joining a guild, there are other outlets for you to interact with other players and to help you advance further in the game. Forming a party is one way. Battling monsters within a party of up to three players earns you more experience points and items. To encourage even more partying in Atlantica, we’ve produced shadow dungeons. These dungeons within a dungeon emerge as you go up in levels, popping up as a task you must complete as part of quests. The opponents you will face in the shadow dungeons will be particularly nasty and difficult to defeat. Therefore, it’s best to take them on with a party. The rewards for making it through these shadow dungeons, like the risks, will be greater, including some mercenaries you wouldn’t be able to acquire otherwise.
Our goal of players interacting with one another was the main driving force behind the implementation of the Stamina system, which encourages players to help each other, as well as to fight against each other in player-versus-player battles. Since it was introduced in the second phase of our closed beta, we have taken the input - as well as the harsh feedback - players provided at the outset to refine and make improvements to the system so that it can be enjoyed by players. Ultimately, we believe Stamina will benefit the game in the long run.
Stamina leads to more players participating in the player-versus-player arena called the Free Leagues, since you get more Stamina points by winning Free League matches. Stamina also encourages more experienced players to help newer players, whether by answering help requests or teaching players crafting skills, with the benefit being more Stamina for the helper. We believe stamina adds another dimension to the game that can lead to more interesting outcomes for players.
These are just some of the steps we’ve taken to make Atlantica more fun when it comes to building a sense of community for Atlantica.
First of all, i would like to congratulate you on a successful game. This so far is climbing my chart of most loved games to date. I am currently at level 52 and is so far enjoying everything in game.
For me, the multi-player part of the game is well planned and is very effective in promoting a good camaraderie in game. You will get to have regular teammates and most of the time you do it finishing quests instead of grinding.
The way this game promotes the questing side of it, makes a way to apply the RPG side even if others believe the story to be linear. But for me, the storyline of the game is just right given the effectiveness and impact on the way they added fantasy with reality .
The guild experience of this game gives a new if not familiar features that if analyzed further will prove that it is a strategy game all in all.
Same goes on the way you build your team and the way you battle with other players.
This game might not be perfect as of now but shines due to the reason that the devs knows what they want in their game and the way they respond to the effects of the features they integrate to their game.
More power to you guys!!!
I would like to say to the Atlantica Online developers that it is a job well done. I am currently in level 28, and so far, I am enjoying the game. From crafting, enchanting weapons and armors, storyline, everything.
And related to the article above, yeah, I guess they are achieving their goal which is to interact with coplayers. I already got a mentor which is way way beyond my level, and it is nice to see those kind of gamers help newbies like me. Also, I recently joined a guild and I am currently getting to know other guild members. It is way easier if you work out as a team, isn't it?
Again, I would like to congratulate you for giving us such a great game.
stamina has long been an issue - even before the game reached open beta. with the release of this developer's journal, i guess we can go play peacefully now.
here we also here of how the game promotes multiplayer battles than individual ones. for this, kudos to ndoors. not much games out there focus on the MM part, just the ORPG.
but yea, like all games in beta, it still has much to improve. hopefully, more articles like this on game developments are released.
I can't wait til the item mall opens and everyone realizes how dependent they will be on buying stuff.
One of the best things about the multiplayer system is that there are no disadvantages to partying. Even a remote party has an advantage over soloing, since you get bonus experience for that as well. I actually enjoy partying with other players, since I noticed that the community is pretty nice. Some things that need a little bit of work are guild interactivity and large scale pvp, but overall, NDOORS did a nice job with the multiplayer aspect of the game. Though it is possible to go through the game with minimal interaction, you really get the best experience through social interaction and partying.
Doomsayer till then end. I can't wait till you find something more productive to do with your online time.
multiplayer is pretty much evident in the game.. the game in sense forces you to interact with the low levels and give you incentives for doing so.. there are lots of ways in which the game promotes social dynamism... theres no room playing solo in this game.. interactoin si the key in oprder to preogress in the game... i guess this is what makes AtO stand out... stamina limitations or will limits, in which some people say destroyed the game well in fact made the game more susceptible to interactive gameplay experience.. if you dont care for yuor fellow AtOer in the the virtual Atlantica world, you will never go far
Doomsayer till then end. I can't wait till you find something more productive to do with your online time.
Always cracks me up when posters show such a distinct out of touch with reality mindset. Well just for you edification, these games are in business to make money. You can delude yourself all you want because it is beta now and there is no item shop, but you when they move into production release, the item shop will be very necessary, count on it.
I really like the Gameplay in the game, but I am not sure I can get over :
A) Lack of character customisation
B) The interface - I've grown accustomed to top notch interfaces like WoW, Lord of the Rings Online, City of Heroes, Age of Conan, Warhammer Online etc. and the Atlantica interface just doesn't feel....polished and finished to me.
C) The Narrative for the quests just seems to be a bit off. I know they are translated, but still...it becomes distracting to the game's immersion.
D) Camera Angles during combat are not very good. They always zoom in to much, or find a very odd angle to show the special moves. I turn it off always.
Things I like:
A) Turn Based Combat! This is loads of fun! I wish there were more MMORPGs of this sort on the market. This alone is reason to play the game in my view. So far it has not gotten boring.
B) Auto Run to Quest Target - Lovely, never get lost looking for a quest!
C) lots of item drops - I like the loot, always wondering what's going to drop next.
D) Music - The music is interesting, nothing spectacular but it fits the mood of the game.
There’s an old saying that goes, “looks can be deceiving”. To be quite blunt about it, this saying applies to a lot of experiences that I have had in my life. Most recently, I experienced it once more when I played this online game named, Atlantica Online.
At first glance, the game seems like any MMORPG out in the market today; it has a creative story set in a fantastic game world, 3D-rendered graphics, different character classes to choose from, varied equipment to use, and a lot of enemies at the receiving end of one’s weapon. You create a character, choose an initial job, level up via fighting monsters, travel across vast lands, fight the big boss, collect the drops, yada-yada-yada. In short, the game appears to be another combat oriented, fantasy MMORPG. Or so I thought it was.
Upon playing the game, I was surprised to find out that the game is very much story oriented as opposed to being combat oriented. The story revolves around the lost city of Atlantis and how your character, a descendant of the early Atlanteans, is tasked with finding it. The quest for Atlantis takes you across several fictional and real locations around the world. To aid you in this difficult ordeal, you will be given the chance to initially add 4 more characters to your party.
That’s right, your party.
Instead of controlling only one character throughout the game, you control three more characters, with the chance of controlling more as you level up. Though the initial set of characters is composed of either melee or ranged fighters, you eventually come across spell casters and hybrid characters like monks and knights. Thus, character selection and party customization is unconventionally deep.
The large number of diverse characters that eventually get to join your party in the game inevitably affects how combat in-game is played out. Instead of merely hacking-and-slashing your way to the next level, battles take a turn for the strategic since the number of characters you control calls for a division of labor. You can’t survive long in the game relying on the brute strength of one character or the magical prowess of another because all character classes have their strengths and weaknesses. Also, stamina is a key issue in directing the actions of the characters because lower stamina levels lead to inaction even if commands are given. Here, dividing tasks among your different characters is key to efficiency and longevity. Thankfully, the battles only begin when you click on a monster that isn’t being fought by another party so there is no need to worry about rushing to the nearest healing spot when at critical health and other trouble caused by random encounters. The game’s turn-based, team-based battle system provides a great break from all the monotonous and stressful grinding and hacking and slashing that plagues many of the RPGs being played today.
Moving around in the game to go to quest destinations is made easier with the use of an auto-move function. You simply click the switch on the upper left hand corner and your character walks all the way to where you want to go. No need to worry about being going around in circles and getting lost.
Atlantica Online is a 3D Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing (MMORPG) game developed by NDOORS Corporation. The game is set in an alternate history Earth, with the game map consisting of large parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The game is based on the story of the mythical city of Atlantis.
With the advent of so many MMORPG games around with the same game play it would be hard for developers to set themselves apart, in the case of Atlantica Online they veered away from the normal game play of MMORPG’s and made the combat system a turned based one. Hmm, people who would hear turn based games would immediately think that the game itself is slow. However AO’s turn based combat system is fast dynamic, and rarely boring. Even leveling up is swift and steady, plus with their integrated auto-move to NPC’s and quests will keep you relaxed and not feel like the game is a chore that needs constant attention..
The best part for me with this game is, it’s pretty easy to understand and get the feel of the game. With the very in depth PvP and Guild options. Players can participate in PvP leagues to win fame and fortune or form powerful guilds to conquer and manage cities. And for the more detailed oriented, by repeatedly battling the same monsters players can unlock journal entries about them which displays their stats and loot drop tables. Since battles only occur when players voluntarily click on monsters on while wondering, players are generally free to explore the world and avoid getting into battles. Even at release, Atlantica Online is one of the largest and and in depth free MMORPGs on the market. Even if you hate turn based RPGs, give Atlantica Online a try. You won’t regret it.
If you played the game, the multiplayer part is indeed felt by the players. As a newbie in Atlantica Online, there are high leveled characters who are willing to guide you, and even after joining a guild, information is much more easier. This promotes camaraderie in every member of the guild. Also there are parties, guilds (as mentioned), and you can even team up to fight a very difficult boss alongside with a much experienced friend or guild member. This what separates Atlantica Online apart from other MMORPG with regards to the multiplayer aspect of a game.
The game in it self can be tagged as an MMORPG under tactical category based on how the game overall promotes critical thinking and planning of character and mercenary development, move and battle tactics planning and familiarization for quicker response for different scenarios, a never the same experience in every battle, be it for PvP or even for PvE.
The features that this game has really promote its multiplayer side. An example of such is the nation building which even bigger than the guild creation. The way a party helps out in your character level up and questing (given that this game also promotes questing over grinding), the way the players with higher level having the capability to assists and mentor lower level players and other such which i believe has been discussed by other posters.
With this, i believe this game will integrate more features in the futire that will further push this game into a whole new level of gaming.
What I love about this game is the plot itself, it easy very educational and fictional. I'm a big fan of fictional stories and history, that is the main reason why I tried it out, and now it seems I can't help to stop playing the game. The plot of the game will keep you interested at all, it also gives you some ideas on how thus the civilizations before live their lives. It will also test your patience, so for those short attentioned span humans can try this game to test their patience lol. So keep up the good work for the management and don't hesitate to surprise us players.
the multiplayer part is actually emphasized in many aspects of the game:
partying
guilds
nations
mentorship
so yea, i pretty much agree with everything that's writtten in the article.
It is designed mainly to focus on the MMO part of the game... as you can see partying is more of an advantage in levelling up rather than a hindrance in leveling... it is easy to get exp in party rather than doing it alone... level gap is not a hindrance in the party..
guilds are designed to create their own community in their preferences...
mentorship is one feature by the atlantica to help the newbies adjust to the environment in atlantica..
it is a win win scenario for everyone.. so people are being encourage to help other people... overall atlantica done a great job creating a good gaming community...
This is what shoulld be imitated by others. I mean MMORPG should emphasize the MMO part. I was skeptic at first when playing this game because I have no friends playing this game. But when I started playing, I got to meet new friends in the virtual world that are happy to assist newbies like me. Also, you get to talk with their experiences as well as ask some things you don't understand with the game, and they are happy to answer you. Also, a lot of people are inviting me to their guild, even though I already a member of another guild. This just shows how Atlantica Online is very successful in this area.
I agree with you... I mean that's why it is called a mmorpg, it is desgined to interact with others and to create an online community while enjoying the touch of a rpg type of game... Atlantica has so much to offer, You can enjoy the game just merely participating in it's side events and side quest... good job ndoors by giving us this quality game!!!

The setting on how the battle system works in Atlantica online is quite a unique one, you will not be bored to death just to finish the turn of your enemy. It even give more emphasis on the mmorpg goal of interaction with other players aswell because of its mentorship feature you have to really talk to someone whom you might don't know and then in the end you'll end up as good friends. This is what I love in this game, it can give you a friend unknowingly since you'll really need to interact with your apprentice as a mentor. Keep up the good work and continue to keep the game rockin.
Multiplayer here is pretty fun and chaotic. What better way to fight than 27 guys going up against an equal amount of monsters? I'd like to see even larger parties if possible... but then again, it might be hell on computers with lower system requirements. I can personally say, at level 70, that partying is the way to go, since it gives a lot more experience as opposed to normal grinding, where you have to time hits to give certain characters experience,
more than 27 mosters, think about going against 27 other character PLAYERS! this could wholly revolutionize the multiplayer genre as it involves 6 players all trying to outstrategize each other in a wonderfull mess of turn based strategy battle system
I have to agree with you guys, this game is so great. The creator was so creative when he created Atlantica online. He has a lot of knowledge about the civilizations that exist before. That is why I like this game because of that it is really educational.
6 players with 9 mercs it, that's Chaos at its best. ^-^
The best part of it is when an enemy is outnumbered. lol
I'm at 71, and have been partying for leveling and questing ever since the early 50's. Even though it's possible to level up solo, it's boring and you have to choose which mercs to go for the kill. Multiplayer partying gives the advantage of spread out experience, which guarantees your mercs will be at the same level or close.
good point, this is one of the reasons why AtO is multiplayer-centric.. if you think about it, the game is not at all hard.. all you gotta doi is open up to the community and the game will be easy as hell.. this is one of the easiest mmos to play out there.. and one of the reasons why is because of its "multiplayer-centricness"
A thanks for the devs of the game for creating such a wonderful game!
It's heartening to know that you've put a lot of thought and effort in this game and I have to say all of your hard work has paid off! For me, Atlantica is one of the best games I've played and will continue on playing it (as long as it stays free
)! One of the most interesting aspects of Atlantica is it's way of implementing online interaction in the game. When you're just starting in the game, the multiplayer aspect in not really that noticable at that time. But, as you progress and level up, you tend to see the importance of forming a party and joining guilds. All in all, for me Atlantica is an exceptionally unique MMORPG!
This is one of the best multiplayer game I've ever played. The features is unique with other games out there. A turn base game mmorpg which will not bore you but will allow you to enjoy this feature. Everytime you'll need to do attacks to your enemies you'll need to strategize well. And, the mercenaries are quite awesome.
True enough. This is why players like me keep on coming back for more action. Plus Devs listen to players on there observation and suggestions which is a good Dev-Player relationship. This and a solid outlook on the product they want makes a good game atm. As a news flash, some mercs as well as skills has been nurfed for a better balance in battle. ^-^ Another job well done. ^-^

i think you're referring to the help request system which is also another part of the multiplayer experience. it's a feature which lets players ask questions and these questions randomly pop-up at other players. if the asked player answers the question he gets rewards in turn.
QUIZZES! this is one thing that i liked about the game. i joined a quiz earlier and people we're really fun cos they just kept saying the most mundane answers ever. though i think quizzes should be a bit more formal.
and a comment on the help request, i was asking about a quest at beijing yesterday and someone actually answered. i did not know that it was given randomly to other players. that's a point for the multiplayer part.
it good that the devs made this journal. it helps us appreciate the game more. go atlantica!
I think a good addition to player interaction would be to have larger scale pvp. As of right now, the main outlet for pvp is through free league, which consist of one to one battles. I understand that the game only supports 3v3 pvp at the max, but I think it would be great if there was some way to implement larger scale pvp in the future, perhaps even as a separate patch.
I haven't really explored yet the multiplayer aspect of this game but it seems really interesting after reading the article. I sometimes form a party with my friends but I haven't really joined any free leagues yet. I'll give it a shot when I've levelled up some more.
Dude you must try it, it is great, especially their market system... you can gain enough gold in their market... the quests are good.. there are like mini game or you can call it side game or side quest to entertain you if you are tired in leveling up, plus the community was great!!!
Whoa! 27 versus 27? That is a real war! And that is what you called real Massive Multiplayer! There is no other game that features this kind of battle but Atlantica Online, isn't it? I haven't tried that 27 versus 27, but I am kinda excited going in that kind of battle. That is a true war indeed. A battle in which no other MMORPG had to offer but Atlantica Online.
Yep, 27 vs 27 man battles are very chaotic. I find it hard to strategize since I always rely on pure attacking during battles, but I think that there is a lot of room for strategic fights if you pay attention to the ap numbers and plan merc skills. Since you cannot see which mercs of the enemies are attacking, you can only guess a bit and anticipate opponent moves.
Atlantica is truly unique since it's the only turn-based MMORPG currently out. While some was skeptical about an turn-based MMORPG, the devs were able to pull it off since it is one of the best games I've played! I like how they were able to make the game fun people who are not really into PvP but still wants to interact with other people in the game. Definitely one of the best games I've played!
Doomsayer till then end. I can't wait till you find something more productive to do with your online time.
In Redwoodsap's defense, this does seem like a get the junkie hooked on crack technique.

yeap think of it as a mess of characters all waiting for war to ensue.. just from the title screen itself you could already catch a glimpse of an epic war.. i personally have done pve with 27 characters in it and the battle was epic.. youre literally at your toes not knowing who will attack you or not... bascally the trick is you have to be on top of your game and stick with your strategy.. if you plan to freeze or stun one party, make sure your other co memebers are in the know.. its a constant communication between teamates as there is no one strategy to win an epic battle.. all of you have to think and be fast on your feet
It is not given randomly to any players. The system has helpers/gms that log in who gets you're help request as whispers or pms. They are part of the staff which is why they can catch the help request. Now in times that there are none logged in, the system will tell you that there are no helpers logged in and that you will have to wait for players to receive and answer your help request. ^-^ I noticed that message which is why i believe this is the system. I was surprised as well one time that a whisper suddenly appeared answering my question which has an in depth answer and well explained as well. ^-^
oh. so it isn't random? sorry for assuming that it is.
so moving on to the multiplayer part. another aspect we could attribute this to is partying. players actually get more experience during partying rather than battling alone. the downside is that it kinda enables leeching. but then leeching doesn't occur without the consent of other party members. so it's kinda good too.
The multiplayer par se of the game is quite really fun. Specially, when your in a party with some of your friends. Even though it is a turn base game, they had given the value of team work by allowing 2 to 3 players inside a battle field. This is quite an interesting feature, like even though your the only person in battle, your party mates can join the battle as a reinforcement, how cool was that?
My Answer to this game in here..........
Atlantic Online – A Critical Analysis.
I have been playing this game for a while now. Here is where I break down and critically analyze the game.
Graphics
Well not really remarkable but then again if you are using a low PC and you are not into good graphic options the game is quite alright. There are shadow textures and the strategy battle mode is kind of silly and it takes away the surrounding graphical resolution as all the battles are just a loading of 2 monster types similar yet different in Mdef and Pdef randomly numbered in a set from 6-8.
Community
It is pretty much as the free to play community of other free to play games. It is nothing much special. Every now and then you will find people using racism or slang and the chat filter kind of makes it more prominent. Some of the players have even found out a way to overwrite the filter by calling people “nab” than noob.
The community section is for accessing players and no matter how many times I have added people from the beginner’s column, I have found they are either placed there to be used by players or just kept online to fill the list. I have actually found a few players from the beginner’s column who leveled after being added into the guild.
In this section you will find crafters and I think it is more of a gameplay support system than a real mass of online game playing players.
Gameplay
Almost majority of the gameplay is solo stuff without much team gaming found. Team gaming forms the essence of the Mmo gaming and it completely lacks in it. Every now and then you will find over-leveled players spamming peer chat and trying to get a party to do some solo quest. By over – leveled players I mean players who have leveled but do not have good skills or armors or weapons to do the solo quest or continue with it. The most irritating portion of the game is the inventory system and the opening of the boxes kind of locks you. This is again an item shop dependent portion so we can well make out where the game is trying to make the money out of cash shop.
Monsters
The game has a strategy oriented battle system and the monsters generally form of a mix of two separate monsters. Strangely every group will have 2 separate monsters one with a high Mdef and the other with a high Pdef so as you have to select proper mouseclick to make the most damage.
Game-Balance
This is the best portion of any game that I like to analyze.
The game has auto battle option and auto battle is again limited to license and auto battle points. I have seen the worse use of this system throughout the Atlantic playfield. Sometimes it is so bad that many free league toons are also into auto battle and their geek armor / rings or their geek skills won’t allow you to proceed further in division.
So here we see that the game is ready to gear up for item shop based free games that form a bulk of population in mmo list.
Sorry for all the folks out there trying to make Atlantica Online a success, here is my review after playing the game and picking up tits and bits form what exactly is going on.
Guild / Town System
There is not much here but a chat panel and a few town buildings for making town grow.
You can make the town grow but if your guild is not active it can be taken away by another guild with more guild points. So the urge to make the town grow is limited to the cash flow from the tax payments and nothing more. The numbers of towns are limited and as such it is more likely that you will be bided out eventually from a town as you will loose guild points every time you try to save it.
I lost my town through guild point bidding as my guild had many support members of the game who didn’t join when we had to do training centre to keep the town. Also support people go offline after a point of time in guild and then the only way is to dismiss them from guild.
Market and Economy
The economy is quite nice and I have found that your stuff usually sells at quite a steady rate. I think it is mostly support controlled but you can still have the pseudo feeling that this is player controlled.
Crafting
You can craft but it is really no point crafting if you see crafted products are not special and they sell for lower gold than the amount of gold needed to craft. There are some special products that can well only be crafted but the stats in them is not that much appealing to level up your craft skill which is a very costly and time consuming process.
Support people will always have greater crafting level as to them they need it to make the Market balance.
Mini Games
You have the training centre and the treasure map hunting or the developer challenge which are pretty good and can be fun for some time.
Errors
The game is dependent on time. Each turn takes 30secs. So if you lag you will miss turns either against monsters or against opponents in free league. The game has many battle speeds and I have found that the same toon and the same opponents difficulty level rises or falls in free leagues with different battle speeds and thus I think the game is a bit dependent on the internet speed when it comes to free league. The game still lags a lot in it’s near to release from the days of CB.
There are few glitches for the exploiters. If you want to have skill increase in any crafting you go to taj and dismantle Walachia stuff for flame shards , you will get craft skills up.
At-last and not the least, I have played the game again till 60+ levels and I feel kind of bored going further. May be it is the lack of team gaming that makes it more of a multiplayer diablo mix with the market and the chat to connect players.
All said and done I think from free leagues to the community with artisans and beginners this is all made up support of this game. I do not want to waste my time here anymore in atlantica online. I deleted my character at level 70ish and I am sure not going to give this game another try, reasons being lack of actual players and support community trying to control every part of the game this way or that way including all the towns. If you want Matrix in a mmo world, go ahead waste time with this game for sure.

If you want Matrix in a mmo world, go ahead waste time with this game for sure.
exactly how many places do u intend putting this post?
exactly how many places do u intend putting this post?
Exactly at how many places do you want to make an Atlantica Forum and try and advertise about the game ? It is really pointless in making posts about a game the world of which is a big in house support system controlling everything inside the game and spoiling the games of the real gamers out there.
Crafting is good for making uprgaded stuff right off the bat. With higher level crafting, you can create +1, +2 or even higher items without the need to use enchant stones. Generally, though, I agree that you can survive without having to level a craft to higher levels.
Wow, the devs really thought hard about the multiplayer aspect of the game. I personally haven't tried joining any guilds and partying but maybe because I'm still at a low level at the moment. Anyway, nice job guys!
hmm, what can i say... this game has flaws, that i pretty much agree with a lot of you. Though i have this way of thinking, all games have flaws. There are people who can't take it, some can. In this one, this game, given it's high requirements and a few lag s here and there, a lot of players like me still log back in and continue playing. We are the gamer database that enjoy the game compared to other F2Ps or even a few P2Ps. In any case, i posted here because i enjoy the game. I lik ethe way the devs keep on thinking of saolutions to bugs and problems and even if there presence can't be felt most of the time i know that they read our posts in the main forum and see what they can do about it. This is based on the patch release notes that i see.
a repost from the atlantica online subforum:
SmurfMagic: another free click n grind?
my reply..
hmm.. i'll try taking your question piece by piece..
ANOTHER
YES. turn-based. mmo. but isn't every game out there like another MMO? and you just find reasons to make it unique that some people may troll on or agree with.
FREE
well, if free is in the context of spending to play the game, YES. you don't need to buy a CD to play it nor pay to download it.
but if free means not spending anything. NO. the item mall is coming out soon. some items like licenses which you may need will be there but if you strategize enough, you could play without the item mall. the way lvl9xs are playing open beta without the item mall. so the item mall issue is more or less a matter of choice.
CLICK
hmm.. YES and NO. to move, you don't necessarily have to click. as SGTfrog has said, there's the automove. also, during battles, you can opt to use keyboard shortcuts rather than the mouse.
GRIND
YES AND NO. some people who like grinding have been complaining about stamina and how it tends to limit grinding. if you're one of the people who hate grinding though, i guess stamina will work for you.
so i don't know. this game is quite a toss up. though it's also seems that it's up to you if you can make the features work for you.
At first, i though it would be just another MMO. But i was so wrong, I am currently at lvl 42, it is amazing. The game is definately unique, in a good way ofcourse.
Till the Item Mall do not open up , it is surely a good time pass game as any other F2P game is and yeah indeed we can make the in - game support guys a time pass till then.
The very thing that impresses me more, is that the world map is huge! Plus, its based in our continents. Just the fact that you can travel to those places (virtual world) really makes you wonder what its like. I’m very sure that everyone in the world that avails to this game would want to conquer their own continent. And that would be a challenge too because other people are trying to do the same thing and thinking it as well. Another thing, having a guild in this game is just beyond what I expected. And it is not easy keeping that power. Who knew in a guild you can be the mayor and work yourself up to being king, controlling the towns security, economy...etc. are something I cant wait to try when I’m a higher level. Unbelievable
Atlantica Online has definitely got the multiplayer part of the game. You can form guilds, be a member of guilds, and form a nation. That is like a government ruling a nation in a game. Another would be partying. You can either share experiences, or join to fight an enemy.
Well, at first you will thought off that you won't feel the multiplayer game feature of Atlantica, but as you go along with the quest, you will now definitely enjoy playing with other gamers. Since you'll be actually asked out other player to join your party to kill those much stronger monster, by this time you'll really enjoy the party system of them game since you'll be fighting out the monster with your party mates. Then you can now interact with other players through party. First I also thought that I won't be having any friends on this game due to off the communication system is quite confusing, just my opinion, but now I already have guild mates that help me out to do my quest and helps me out all the way.
Something i love about the game is its multiplayer side. They have this dream or let's put it as goal in creating a game that can promote interaction with other players where both will benefit from it. It also gave a way on creating a new experience on the multiplayer side through there guild benefits as well as in a bigger view which comprises a nation. Which game can give you such now? I guess that would make thos game different as well. It promotes a different style PvP.
oh, talking about nations though.. i heard there's going to be nation wars where gamers will be allowed to PK. it's pretty neat cos there's even a schedule set for it. on mondays, nations will declare war on some nation and then saturday is when the nations battle/PK.
i have yet to witness this multiplayer part.
The multiplayer part is not evident in the first part of Atlantica Online because the first part of Atlantica Online is the tutorials about the game. It teaches you step by step the must-know of Atlantica Online. But then, after you level up for a while, as you get to know friends inside the game, you will see that the multiplayer part is indeed evident in the game. You get to join guilds, build nations, parties and many more.

True enough. The good part of this is that the king of nations can only declare war within the 24 hour time on mondays. After which the defending nation have til thurday 12am to pay the tribute to the attacking nation or else war will proceed from then on to saturday 2400 military time.
Our guild is member of a nation and maybe soon enough, we will join this level of PvP.
Did anybody mention multiplayer? jk. :D
Just to sum up what everyone has said about the multiplayer aspects of this game:
1) Nation Wars
2) Guilds
3) Quizzes
4) Partying
5) Mentor/Apprentice
..etc etc. Now I'm too lazy. Haha.
Anyway, I haven't seen this much mutiplayer features on an MMO in a while. One point for NDOORS then.
The game itself forces you to interact with other players and sometimes can give you incentives for doing it.. there are lots of ways in which the game promotes social interaction by means off, party, mentorship, free league, guilds, events and even just by being a bystandard. So, the multiplayer per se is seen.
Parties give much larger experience than plain killing solo, plus you kill monsters faster, and can do harder monsters that are impossible to solo for particular levels. Some quests and dungeons require parties, especially during mercenary recruiting and higher level dungeons (valley of kings onward).
Yep, parties can really level up your character. Imagine if you are just wandering around the world of Atlantica and your party members is fighting, you also gain some experience with them. Another would be you can join them or they can join you in much harder battles. That alone is a good example of a multiplayer aspect of the game.
I'll just recently tried playing in the free league of the game and, well, I died.
And, my opponent has a level lower than mine! That just shows that this game's PvP aspect is more on strategy. I enjoy grinding my way up a level and Atlantica made that part fun for me (I'm honestly not affected by the Stamina system of the game... I mean, it regenerates naturally so it realy doesn't hinder me from grinding... unless, I'm just a casual grinder?) and the free leagues will also keep those PvPers happy!
Yeah you can party while the members are away, but it is better to party while you are fighting the same monster. I mean teaming up. The experience gained during that kind of party is much bigger than the party gained while members are away.
Yeah partying while fighting the same monster (teaming up) is recommended, but you should party with the levels just within your bracket. I mean maybe 10 levels below or higher than you because I have partied to players with levels way way higher than mine and we didn't maximize the gaining of experience.
What's interesting about the game is that it strongly encourages you to interact with other players in the game. Even if you're not really into PvP battles, you can still interact will other players by forming parties or joining guilds. There are some quests that requires you to be a member of a guild to complete it and some bosses in the game are really tough that it requires you to party with a friend to defeat it.
Add to this the activities that can be done when a member of a guild and a nation. ^^ For the partying, it is faster to kill and gives rewarding experience and items. ^^ And now that the item mall it up and runnning with a few problems of course(surely be fixed pretty soon) And those sold not really a necessity or is required to play the game. so i can say that the item mall doesn't disappoint me. lol
The game itself promote a multiplayer status to all mmorpg games out there, since you can interact with other on many other ways like joining a guild, free league, pvp, level up partying and a lot more. This game really promote on how will you strategize against your enemies.
true true. one time, i almost got beaten by a lvl2x and well, im lvl4x. stratefy+good armor=WIN!
people are also a good sport at the free leagues. you'll never fail to see anyone saying gg there. well, there are the sore losers too, but don't let them get you down.
one thing to remember at the free leagues is learn the move and guard function. they're pretty helpful. :D
Yeah they are helpful, those switching places and guarding. Also, you can try PvP with your friends. You can test some strategies with them and you can learn from them too. That's how good the multiplayer part is. One thing Iike too is the sharing of monster info.
Hmm... Interesting. Didn't know the developers had thought the multiplayer aspect of the game that hard. I really like partying with my friends and it's especially fun when defeat a particularly hard boss.:)
The best part for me with this game is, it’s pretty easy to understand and get the feel of the game. With the very in depth PvP and Guild options. Players can participate in PvP leagues to win fame and fortune or form powerful guilds to conquer and manage cities. And for the more detailed oriented, by repeatedly battling the same monsters players can unlock journal entries about them which displays their stats and loot drop tables
That's the best way to go to test out strategies. Do compete with your friends and practice. With monster sharing, there is a title related to it. so it would be best if you get the quest for that monster expert. There are a lot of aspects that the devs have included in this game. The small things like experience gained when giving a gift to beginners and other such. ^-^
I'm slowly learning how to put use guard and move and well, it helped improve my chances in winning at free leagues a bit.
And, I'm trying to upgrade my equipments as well. If I become more serious in PvP, I'll probably chance my formation as well since I've notice having the right mercs is also essential as well (like for example, I have two shamans which really have low defense so I'm planning of changing that... Not sure to what at the moment...).
Impression of Atlantica Online tossed as just another MMORPG game out there, or worse, it may not be as good as the others. But as I entered the game itself, it turned out to be wrong after all.
The game has an exclusive turn based battling system feature like no other. The idea should make players worried about what tactic is needed for the faction. A good player have to consider the formation of the party, the roles of the mercenaries, the damages of the monster can inflict and the moves have to be performed during a precise time. Its difference from any other battling system is in every bout from monsters comes different approach of strategy. There may be easier or harder practice of fighting with just the same fiend encountered. Having idea of perception and awareness during battle is a must and swift response since there is a limited time each round. Over all, the game’s inspiration made the combat structure into a whole new level.
The environment is a blast, a premium setting, which should convey players experience historical beauty. It is actually an advantage for the game; it formed rational scenery in creative ways. It has landscape of South East Asian and European countries, such as Athens and Korea. There are terrains, animals and structures which will give participants the mood of countryside geography. The characters are so detailed, the facial expression is so real, and the design is outstanding, everyone can feel like a real warrior. The game should obtain a high respect for its graphics.
The best of its features? Playing the quest. It has an automated function where you can reach the appropriate NPC to talk to without spending time walking literally or having hard time looking in the map. This function should place the players to the set location where the next destination will be. It’s a blessing for a gamer; it should lessen the time and effort in questing.
Agreed, Atlantica Online is a very unique game, which makes it a must-have game. Though it’s nice and stunning, it has its own repulsive traits. The battle system is so good that it may take so much time to finish a single fight. It may have the gameplay slower. Players may also have a lot of reliable mercenaries, yet you have to control each one of them, which is a total crap. You have to worry for everyone else in the party. The Hero may be a warrior or a spell caster yet instead it should force players to be good at any jobs, worse, worried about the equipments for all of them, actually 9 of them. It may sound cheesy and definitely leave a mark, which is a shame.
Playing Atlantica Online is a very overwhelming experience everyone should consider. New ways and looks of MMORPGs and devastating work of tactics and strategy will definitely bring this game to the top. This game is absolutely a Must-Have and in no doubt, a game that is worth playing.
Changing mercenaries, you really can't avoid doing this simply because as you level up, you realize more and more the line-up that fits you best based on your battling experience. Do check the posts in the atlantica forum of this site since you will see a lot of guides there and ideas on battle tactics and battle formation.
Multiplayer also gives a fun experience to friends in real life, not to mention all those copuples i got to know who play this game together. This is somehting that made me smile after i found out about this that most of the players in my friends list are related to each other as family and/or friends. In any case, happy gaming and good luck to your formation.
First im having difficulty at the combat controls but whe n you get used to it.. its very easy. . you can attack at the same time. .loot system was alright at first its difficult to loot if you are used to other mmorpg loot system. Pvp hahaha haven’t tried yet. . im busy leveling up my character and mercs.. . locating npc and place where to go to was not that hard. You can use the auto move function then you will never consume much time being lost and looking for your next quest.. its easy. . . item box was random you don’t know what you’ll be getting but its alright you can use it to your merc if you already have that item. .thats for I can say just starting playing this game this morning .. ^_^

Thanks for the advice.
I am starting the check the forums more often since I've been seeing really good information in there.
Awe... Lovely story there! It's nice to hear the games do in fact bring families and friends together! I've been trying to influence my friend and siblings to my gaming habits but alas, I am unsucessful! Maybe I'm not trying hard enough?
With the advent of so many MMORPG games around with the same game play it would be hard for developers to set themselves apart, in the case of Atlantica Online they veered away from the normal game play of MMORPG’s and made the combat system a turned based one. Hmm, people who would hear turn based games would immediately think that the game itself is slow. However AO’s turn based combat system is fast dynamic, and rarely boring. Even leveling up is swift and steady, plus with their integrated auto-move to NPC’s and quests will keep you relaxed and not feel like the game is a chore that needs constant attention..
