Ok here is what i see. Planetside. Pros: Great insta-battle. doesnt take a lot of time to get good at. Some cool weapons and battle strategies. Cons: Not realistic, physics wise. You can't accomplish anything. Once you take a city there is no way to keep it. There are 3 empires but there will never be a winner or any one larger power. There is no point to play this game if you want to accomplish something. This game was simply made to satisfy the Battlefield crowd. This game should not be pay to play. WW2 Online Pros: Looks great, over-all battle sequences look awesome. Looks like there is great teamwork. You can actually accomplish something. It does take long to get used to , but isnt that realistic? i mean no one can just pick up a rifle, jump in a tank, or aircraft and instantly know how to use it,. Cons: $13 a month, (although $10 to buy) so there are no cons i can see but keep in mind i havent played ww2online yet and this is how i see it so far |

Just a question and a request. ;) Question: Have you ever played Planetside (I'm just curious)? Request: After you've played WWIIOL for a few weeks, would you please come back here and post your thoughts again? I'd be interested in seeing the views of a new player. Thanks! Have Fun! I have watched some really cool looking movies from Planetside. I am amzed at the amount of people you could see in one battle. That is a good thing. WWIIOL is going to be bumping up that limit soon. WWIIOL forces your computer to do things that no other game does. It tracks many many more rounds fired and that is not all. It has to do physics calculations to determine if there was penetration, then it determines if anything is damaged. It also determines if there was any spalling. That is when you either have a penetration or not but there will be alot of superheated bits of metal bouncing around in a tank. It determines if this happens then tracks each of those bits and determines if they do damage. Things I didn't like is the hit point system, the fact that you can't win, the terrain was rather plain and bleak looking. No dense forests like we have in WWIIOL. Very few buildings. Little variety in vehicles. Looked to be less than WWIIOL anyway.

Pruitt I think i can fufill your request.. I have played both games.. Planetside about 5 months ago i was an active subscriber to it, now i've been playing WWIIOL for about a month now.. Here is my rundown Planetside description in a nutshell: Fast pased all around fun massive arcade shooting action Pros: Server selection for West and East coast players.. only 2 servers now I beleive / Easy to pick up and play not a huge learning curve pretty straight forward/ Some great teamwork involved within Units or squads/Nice graphics/Pretty decent size playworld/ Good viewing distance Cons: Can be somewhat a monster machine demander / occasional bad lag spurts / 56kers can't really play this game in large warfare where its all at / population cap when certain islands have so many people on it / IMO the expansion isn't worth the money or time Conclusion : If you like fast paced action and large scale battles futuristic stuff like hovercrafts and what not Planetside is great.
World War II Online in a nutshell: Very realistic game attempting to be a Real to life simulation of world war II era combat.
Pros: VERY large gameworld/ Awesome community/ Very far viewing distance, Roughly 3 miles or so/ Very realistic game, some things can be arcady at times bust most of all very realistic / Awesome balistics/ Allies or Axis can potentially accually win the map then it resets with frontlines being back in the middle of the map/ Lots of things to choose from, Air to air combat, Infantry combat, Ground to air combat, Tank combat, Navy combat./This game was built to allow 56kers to play and have no disadvantage against broadband users, it can work on a 26.4kb connection easily. Cons: Has some bugs that have been around for awhile/Small developement team "which is why some bugs have been lingering around for awhile in the first place"/Large learning curve "imo is kinda fun I had a blast dieing alot for the first week"/hard to be a lonewolf, need a squad in the beginning for fun.
Overall both are very great games and i've enjoyed both, WWII OL comes out on top in my fun factor just simply because there is more to do and you feel liek you accually accomplish somthing when you accually take over a town or whatever.. They are both very different from each other but both very great and fun games overall. I'm accually going to be opening my Planetside sub again as well.. So when i feel like just rambo'ing out i'll play some planetside but when i wanna get serious and what not i'll play WWII Online.. Try both games if you havn't allready both great! I really think WWII Online has a VERY large replay value though because its never the same each time you play it.. its great.. _______________________ _______________________ |
