Bf42? LoL It can't be compared... Bf42 is just an Fragfest, no reality in there This game is a World War II Simulation, or atleast the closest to that

Much better I think. Mostly I say that because I know I could not still be playing bf1942 after 3 years. I grew bored if it within a month. The diverse gameplay and attention to realism and detail in ww2ol has kept me hooked for 3 years now and I doubt that will change. If anything the game grows that much better, refined, and diverse with each patch. WW2OL is on a level all its own. There is nothing else out there like it.

Bf1942 is an arcade action game on small maps. WWII Online is more of a simulation and plays on a map the size of Europe at 1/2 scale with more than 400 modelled cities. It has a real damage model, no hit points like Bf1942. The view distance is several kilometers. Its different... Costy --------------------------------------------- PotBS-Video: The Spanish Armada |

The two games really cannot be compared. While they are both set in WWII, that's about the only similarity they have. BF:42 is a fun game to play for a month or two, but the "hit point" damage model is a bit arcadish. WWIIOL uses a physics model based on actual penetration values for the various weapons to determine if the weapon did any damage at all. If the weapon did penetrate, the the velocity of the weapon and location of the penetration are then looked at to determine if anything would have been hit. It's possible to penetrate a vehicle and not hit a single critical object and thus do no damage. Or then again, it might hit the engine, ammo, fuel, or occupents and depending on what was hit, the affects are taken into account. The variables are many, so there's no hard and fast rule to it, unlike BF:42. ;) WWIIOL does have a very big learning curve. It's not what I'd call a Fast Action Shooter. It takes teamwork and coordination to accomplish anything. Rambo types are not going to find a lot to do, nor are they fondly looked upon by the team players. There are often periods where there is little action going on, as one side or another is preparing for an attack, which can take some time in organizing. Defense is a little easier to setup, but that doesn't in any way mean defense is always successful. A determined attacker who is smart and does not waste his equipment will defeat a disorganized enemy who throws their equipement away without coordinating it nearly every time. There's nothing else like this game available anywhere. If you enjoy combat and working with others, give it a try! :) Have Fun!

S! (how we greet in WWIIol) It is hard to compare the 2 games, those who love BF1942 will point out the hectic pase and how fun and action packed it is instantly. Tho who love WWIIol will point out the correctness & war-like simulation and how grand it is! 2 different games - depends on what you want - simulation or arcade (I too like arcade Im not bashing it) |

In all honesty, the real question should be "Is BF1942 even close to being as good as WWIIOL?" And that answer would be no. WWIIOL hasn't even reached the halfway mark of its potential, and its the greatest, and most immersive WWII game that I have ever played. ( I am afraid of what will happen when it acheives its full potential, I am already a WWIIOL addict Oberstleutnant Gramble |

Well with certain mods you can make BF42 realistic. Such as expierence WWII or forgotten hope both great/ But WWII online is not really a hardcore FPS. Playing as a soldier takes time to get used to, because it is that different. ___________________________ http://wraithclan-online.tk |

Well, I've been playing this game for over two years now and still haven't really gotten tired of it. You have to watch out though, I've played it for long periods of time and gotten burnt out, but that only leads to a week or so break at the most. It's a pretty tough game though, you don't get to take multiple hits in the chest like in BF and still live. One shot and you're dead. The learning curve is pretty steep and most manuals are kind of outdated due to the constant changes so you'll probably want to ask the players if you need any help (channel 99 and regular training days on training server). If you like fighting in a huge organized attacks you should join a squad (BKB, Windhund, 31st Wrecking Crew, AST). All in all, WWIIOL is way better than BF:1942, it doesn't even compare. There really is no comparision. The only area where BF1942 beats WWIIOL is in raw graphics, and name one MMOG that can't be beat in graphics by another title in the same genre. The game has to be played to be understood fully and is much more imersive than games with single player offline missions on small maps. I have been playing for over a year and still love it. I play other games for short periods of time, beat them and log into WWIIOL and tell my friends.

Oh i forgot to metion that it supports TrackIR, one of the few (or is it the only) MMO to support it. You can look around just by moving your head (your real heaad lol) How cool is that ? |

Nothing compares...I have every BF game and they are all collecting dust cause they get boring....Plus we usually get something new every month(Patch)...don't have to wait for expansion pack.

Better? Depends on what you are looking for: Quick action, nice (but comic style) graphics and such - BF42 Realistic weapons, tactical gameplay and an intense atmosphere - WWIIol |
