are we ever going to see an open beta? or a trial version? I wanna try it but don't plan on spending money before I am sure I like it...

This game is very addicting and ratehr balanced and polished already, for still being in Beta.
I highly recommend you trying it out. Once I reordered and played beta, I got hooked. Even the PvE missions require teamwork, especially as you get into higher Security breach missions

Is this an actual FPS game or is there a calculated miss chance?

My opinion. and response to shepx22.
Game is very addicting if you don't mind same typical kind of game play repeating. Cept the big battles for end time subscribing in a agency (AVA).
Graphics are nicely done. sound pretty decent. nice paced. Balance, eh, working on it; not to bad. PVE is a big challenge, PVP determines the win by skill/teamwork/objectives/and numbers of classes(more medics and assault when attacking, more robo's/medics while defending)..
Feels like a even mix of FPS and MMO elements.
~MMO main elements- custom build of skills, and talents; which uniquely make your character how u want. Social features(Auction house included, only used to sell old armor/mats for implant crafting.), loot and crafting, And team work with your agencies/clans/pugs; Casual friendly.
~What strayed from MMO elements.
Lack of exploration(huge issue); Lack of quests. Dome city -Feels like a virtual lobby between battles. Slightly faster paced, and feels like a Action MMO, requires some skill in FPS if you wish to win -(cept Turret robo i guess, don't need much there). Faster then most MMO leveling (good and bad; i like getting to endgame myself, but some like to take longer. *shrug*)
~As for the levels. It feels like COD4 perks/Battlefield VS MMO skill training. At certain levels you unlock something certain. as for instance. level 8 you unlock a skill, as level 9 you unlock a equipment, and 10 you unlock a gun, and eventually level 20 you unlock a gadget (referring to recon unlock; may be different for other classes).

Oh and shep, its not that polished. Theres so many minor details i reported first beta that still exist. (couple were fixed though) minor details are what makes it polished, but things like grabbing a wall 5yds from the model/texture of the wall your grabbing is a pretty big flaw in my book (VR ARENA; Circle Path).
