Global Agenda News - Sandstorm Video Dev Blog: Defense Raids

Posted by Michael Bitton on Jul 19, 2010  | 2 comments in our forums

Global Agenda Executive Producer Todd Harris and Lead Artist Chuk Vinson discuss the new 10-man Defense Raids feature that will be making its debut with the release of phase two of the game's first expansion: Sandstorm in this latest video dev blog.

Todd kicks off the video by mentioning that Global Agenda recently went subscription free (think the Guild Wars expansion business model), which is certainly worth noting. The first of such expansions has been dubbed Sandstorm, and will be available free to all players who purchase Global Agenda. Phase one of Sandstorm was deployed recently, and Phase Two (which contains the upcoming Defense Raids feature being discussed today) was recently deployed to the PTS.

Following his introduction, Todd then turns it over to Chuk who explains the new Defense Raid missions in greater detail. Defense Raids call on players to defend their dome city's crucial functions against an invading force of robots. The missions are a cooperative PvE venture for high-level players that pits up to 10 players against the aforementioned invading robot force. Raid sirens blare throughout the dome city accompanied by flashing red lights in order to alert players of an impending raid. Defense Raids are time-sensitive so the missions to defend a city objective will only be available for a limited amount of time once the raid sirens begin.

The raid missions themselves play out as a kind of "survival mode" as Todd mentions in the video. Players set up a defense and they are then assailed by wave after wave of robots, and should they manage to survive these waves, a final climactic battle against a fearsome robot boss awaits them. If you've read this far and you're wondering what you can get out of winning a defense raid, Todd assures us that there is some "good loot" to be had. It's always about the loot with you people! Who am I kidding? I want the loot too!
