Angelshark writes: Agreed. I'm excited about this too. Still the talk of doing "combos" worried me. I'm hoping the combat will use a more intuitive combat system (Soul Calibur 2, Street fighter series) rather than a rigid combo system (Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct.) Also PVP action combat will lead to people leaning on their lag switches again (Halo 2 & 3 this is a common problem.) And Finally the action RPG has been done unsucessful on a console (Phantasy Star Online for 360.) Let's hope the guys a Champions learned from those mistakes. Fri Jul 11 2008 10:33PM
vesavius writes: Well, even if I wasnt an old time player of the Champions PnP RPG, or a deep lover of comics, or have a respect for what Jack and his team achieved in CoX, Iwould probably still play this... We know they have the funding, passion, and skills to deliver what they are promising. We know Jack wouldnt make a game that he wouldnt play himself. The aim towards player created content is the future of MMORPGs is fantastic as well, and quite simply the undeniable future of MMORPGs if thi genre wants to progress beyond cookie cutter theme park gaming. chriswsm writes: Many years ago I did play an early version of the PNP Champions. It was great fun and easy to get into. If Jack and co can make a half decent MMO version then I am sold. I will keep an eye out for the beta ;op Sat Jul 12 2008 3:54AM
damian7 writes: # XxjagoxX(posted Fri Jul 11 2008) * yea. cuzz CoX is going in the wrong direction Since jack left el oh el to that. COx is finally getting a bit of fun added, vs the nonstop nerfing imposed by jackie boy. Sat Jul 12 2008 8:11AM
damian7 writes: for the record -- pretty much everything he's talking about C.O. are items that have been requested for ever in COx, and due to the way Jackie had the game built, couldn't be added into COx. so yeah, this is totally COx part Deux. which is what MUO would've been, just with marvel toons. LordDraekon writes: Well, Jack, I hope you can pull all of this off without sending system requirements rocketing through the roof. I have yet to see an MMORPG inspire enough people to buy new hardware setups to keep a new game in the black for any length of time. I'm still bothered by the cross-platform focus. A large part of Age of Conan's current mess is trying to be all things to all people. Sat Jul 12 2008 1:14PM
Saurus930 writes: Hurry up I wanna play it now! Sat Jul 12 2008 1:27PM
Wolfdor writes: *groans* This game sounds like it has all the promise in the world, and it's going to be ruined so they can make a button mashing combo game that is more suited for console owners who have as of yet don't even want MMORPG's. Sat Jul 12 2008 4:25PM
Douhk writes: I liked the old combat system in CoX. It was very fast-paced and involved a lot of movement, which I thought fit that type of game. I really don't want to see something like AoC's combat system in this game. Not necessarily that I would dislike it, but by the way he describes it, people who used to play CoX are going to feel the "wtf"s kicking in when they first play this game. Sun Jul 13 2008 4:25PM
Haradeas writes: HoX wasnt bad but it had the worst pve system in the world. Every "lvl" was instanced and looked precisely the same, random generated and agro resetted so you could flew across all mobs kill the last mob and do this over and over and over... again as a pve lover this was horrible. Second, the part that they gonna make also a version for console can srew the pc version. Not sure what they are making first... Mon Jul 14 2008 3:39AM

Ruthgar writes: Button mashing? I had hopes for this MMO, but I have a feeling this will be another Vanguard. I am afraid it will be a lagfest. Tue Jul 15 2008 4:49AM

nboccalupo writes: This is one big joke. Jack E should be focusing on CoH/CoV with the "creativity" that he is talking about in this interview. "You will be jumping out the way..." COME ON! Add these kinds of updates to your existing "baby". You created a fantastic game with CoH/CoV, why can't you continue to improve it? The really successful MMOs develop and improve the existing shell of their game. Work on this "latency" you talk about in the interview. Turn over the code, recompile, repackage, do what ever it takes to improve what already exists and is loved by the multitudes. Wed Jul 16 2008 5:32PM
Fion writes: Nb, Jack hasn't been on the CoX team for a few years now. Cryptic doesn't even own the game anymore, and frankly it's only gotten way way better since he left. Wed Jul 16 2008 11:30PM
TheHamidon writes: "hope it's free to play" -angelana89 Why would it be free to play?... Sat Jul 19 2008 6:53PM
DeserttFoxx writes: @ nboccalupo The reason they cant do that to CoV is because the current engine is limited, so this way, going off of a different engine just allows for a new game, besides there is no garuntee the current CoX players want this type of faster paced gameplay, so forcing them to play it wouldnt be teh right move. Releasing a different game in the same genre will allow them to choose for themself. Sun Jul 20 2008 8:43PM
krieblood writes: Oh YAY So pretty much its The age of conan PvP system with some Crappy COV/COH Crap. yay whateveryone really needs to waste there time on some poopy super hero mmo that there are like DC online COH and now this Wide selection of Crap games for no one to play. Suck it up and bow to AOC and DARKFALL. OWNED Mon Jul 21 2008 9:07AM
Bade93 writes: @ krieblood AoC isn't finished. I'm not really interested in an unfinished game. CoX isn't a terrible game, it really isn't. It did something that other MMOs didn't, and it should be praised for doing so. Wed Jul 23 2008 9:17AM
Antaran writes: @krieblood : "Suck it up and bow to AOC" are you mad?? i'd kept my eyes on AoC's progress and even pre ordered it, i found myself to be hugely dissapointed with it, yes the combat was ok and made a nice change (i'm tired of point and click/auto afk fights), AoC made the fatal flaw of concentrating on graphics over content, content is what makes a game successful and AoC failed in content, it saddens me to say this but it's true. I got my Conqueror to level 52 btw so plenty of time spent to make my personal opinion on it count. I've picked up CoH/V recently and found that it has the content and gameplay features which will keep me occupied longer than 10 minutes unlike all the others i've tried these days. SWG - 3 years playing it, cancelled sub 2 months after NGE. Vanguard - failed (for me) more than anything i've ever played, at level 7 all i ever did was log in, get ganked/griefed by level 30+, respawn, repeat, cancel sub. LotRo - played for a year, got bored as crafting was basic and raiding 1 instance for 6 hours doesn't interest me. WoW - did trial for full timeframe and got same feeling about the game as i got from LotRo. CoH/V - Am blown away by how simple yet addictive it is, so far this IS the MMORPG i've been looking for and most likely will keep me occupied for 3+ years when i give STO and KOTORO a whirl.
