Cryptic Studios is ready to unleash the next major update to Champions Online on September 17th. Called "Supervillain Onslaught", players will be able to take on the role of an iconic bad guy from the game and take on other players called "guardians" who are tasked with trying to stop the chaotic run through Millenium City.
The Champions Online site has been updated with a special post to let players know that a big sixth anniversary party is in the works throughout September. Players can look forward to special events and lots of free items as well.

Champions Online players can log into the game and grab a free account-wide unlock of the Rainbow Flight travel power from today through Monday, July 29th.
The Champions Online site has been updated with a brief note to let players know that the game's tutorial is being revamped to "provide better immersion, faster flow, reduced friction points, and clearer explanation of game mechanics." According to the blog post, the reimagined tutorial is currently on the PTS for Gold Members to experience and to give feedback to the development team.
Randy "Arkayne" Mosiondz has penned an update on the Champions Online site that indicates that game development on the super-hero themed MMO will be returning to the site of its original development by Cryptic. Mosiondz will head the studio in Los Gatos, California with the team slated to start adding new content to the game in the very near future.

The first wave of Steel Crusade will introduce three new instances and pave the way for a second release later in the fall.
