    Cryptic Studios, Atari and the Champions Online dev team have announced a gigantic spike in both revenue and player participation in the game since the "Free For All" version was released at the end of January. Concurrent users, unique log ins and revenue have risen over 1000%. To celebrate, devs have a free gift for players that can be claimed at the C-Store.

    Cryptic Studios has announced that lifetime subscriptions for both Champions Online and Star Trek Online will be on sale for 20% off beginning January 25th. The sale is in celebration of Champions going free to play and Star Trek Online's first anniversary.

  • The Year In Review

    As the free-to-play version of Champions Online nears, Atari and Cryptic Studios want to remind players about all of the changes over the past year. The Champions Online site has been updated with a terrific retrospective about all of the major changes and updates during the past year of service. The list includes all of the major updates added to the game including the recent Demonflame content expansion.

  • Lifetime Subscriptions Reinstated

    Cryptic Studios has announced that lifetime subscriptions to Champions Online have returned. For $299, players will never have to pay a subscription again and will be considered 'Gold Members' (top tier) when the game goes free to play in January 2011. In addition to the gold membership, players are treated to several other perks.

  • Archetype Details Emerge

    When the free-to-play iteration of Champions Online goes live in January, one of the new features to be introduced is the Archetype system. Basically, an archetype is a ready-made hero with pre-defined build. Players will know ahead of time what will happen as their characters level, what skills will be learned, what role this archetype is best suited to play, etc.

  • Headed for Free to Play

    Atari and Champions Online developer, Cryptic Studios, have announced that the game will become a free to play title beginning in Q1 2011. Premium content and adventure packs will be available in the CStore for additional purchase. Current subscribers will be called 'gold members' and regular monthly subscriptions will be available to new players for $14.99 per month. Gold members will receive all content at no cost.     Cryptic Studios has announced that the Champions Online Demonflame Adventure Pack will be available later this month. This is the second adventure pack that the team has created for the game and includes new content, quests, critters and zones for players in levels 11-40.

    In celebration of its first anniversary, Champions Online is going free-to-play for a week. From September 1-7, 2010, Champions Online is unrestricted and totally free to play. Players will also be treated to a special event taking place in Millenium City.
