According to Gamasutra in THIS article posted today, Atari has dropped Cryptic studios. Also of note was Cryptics losses... 17.5 million last earnings year but down to 7.5 million this year. Still, those are some big chinks of change.
They say the games are going on "for now" but... Are we looking at the death of STO and CO?
(PS: Sorry: I didn't see the news post until just now.) |

Money-grubbing-MMO-sausage-factory has been rejected by the market. This is a good thing. The bad thing is people who like these games are losing their games. For the sake of those people I hope the titles get picked up by some other publisher. OTOH I have been wishing for the closure of Star Trek Online. I'd like to see what a different developer and publisher would do with the IP, though most likely the IP would remain video game poison as Star Trek has always been more about the QQ than the pewpew. Still, I think better can be done. |

So, now that Perfect World has bought Cryptic, when when will they start running the servers and stuff? Since when is Tuesday a direction? |
