It's fun, but you're pretty much set in an archetype and can't really design your own hero's powerset. If you don't mind that though, it certainly is worth a look. Westwood Studios, Bullfrog Productions, Origin Systems, Pandemic Studios, Maxis, and Bioware. What do all of these fine game studios have in common? They made innovative, fun, and popular games. They were communicative with fans and greatly appreciated them. Also, they were all killed by EA. People, for the future of gaming, please do not buy EA products. |

Are there many people who still play it? Can you group in it? |

Its free why not take a look, for myself its probably the dullest most inept online experience I have ever endured......but everyone is different - make your own mind up. |

I quite enjoyed it to start with. It was worth downloading to have a look at. I failed to get the point of it though. The art designers have designed 8000 or so costume pieces. Some of the costume sets look great. I looked forward to collecting these, perhaps looking for rare drops from mobs, maybe running dungeons for that last piece of a costume, or finding a blueprint so I could craft a rare costume. Instead I found that all the costumes are given to you at level one. What a waste of all that design. Make me earn a costume and its worth something to me. Just give me them all for nothing and they are worthless. This means you cannot find any items when you kill mobs. All they drop is trinkets that give you extra stats and make no difference to the look of your character. All you can craft seems to be more trinkets. This killed it for me. I never got high enough to see if it changed later in the game. |

Originally posted by Muppetier I have correct something here. It is true that the amount of costume that you get at the very beginning is huge but it does not mean the end of all. There are costume pieces dropped by certain mobs(the waist cape that has been cried to be 1 in 10k kills of vampires) or even bosses(therakiel wings from Therakiel Temple on Elite difficulty), some are obtained by some perks like killing X of this type of monster. The best thing is that those costume unlocks are account wide so it can be used to the first look of a new character. And I have not even talked about action figures. |

Originally posted by gandales Ah I obviously never got far enough into the game to see those. I wish the earlier level mobs had been given a few more interesting things to loot. Just one or two costumes that you could collect the pieces from in the first 10-15 levels would have beem good. |

Yes it's worth a go if your bored and have nothing better to play. It's quite limited for the new silver player and obviously it lacks some of the more interesting power choices you have as a gold member.
Just remember don't buy anything as you'll be done within a month at best with this :) |

Well... if you're holding out until they PAY YOU to play the game, I wouldn't hold your breath! ;) That said, there aren't very many MMO's that I would consider a waste of time to download and try. Just start the d/l when you're at work, and you'll have wasted maybe 15 minutes of your own time setting up an account and playing. It's better than it was at launch. It's not so much the frustrating mess that it once was, but still every bit as shallow. I've played enough to get to 14th-ish level under the free model, and see myself playing here and there in the future when I have a superhero jones. But I still wouldn't pay to play it. |

Its good for a once over but if you think that you are going to be making alts, then forget it, once you've played with one character you've seen everything. Shallow doesnt begin to explain the level of lame in this game, i mean i have a LS and i cant stand to bring myself up to redownloading this wanna be mmo (Should tell you something) instead of content, they are taking the lotro route and hiding behind the "lets redo the sub-par content we released & and make more CS items" The only redeeming value i get from this game is that every month i get 400CP that stacks up. And on a side note when the game came out there was a period within 4 months of release where a thread was created to ask those what were they playing and every dev that posted on the thread named other mmo's but the one they help create. |
