As far as graphics go I guess they're not for everyone, I enjoy the cell shading but maybe if others don't they could turn them off in options under video settings? |

Well all you have been able to see is the CO Downloader. The CO downloader is a buggy P.O.S., hybrid bittorrent client that allows for no tweaking of the up and down pipe so the upload bandwith chokes out your connection. I never got above 28 KB/s and my ports were so overloaded I couldn't browse the web or even log into my router settings to see what ports I had open. So I canceled the download and found a torrent of the game instead. Using utorrent I downloaded the game in just over an hour. As to how i feel about the game, they have made some improvements since launch so its ok for free, but I still wouldn't pay a nickel to play it. Oh and as to them wasting forum bandwith or customer service for us free joyriders. Why the hell should they?

Originally posted by Falcomith I should have looked deeper in to the game, especially the page your link points to. One og my pet hates of these type of games is a lack of backpack space, and with this game only offering 1 for f2p and 4 is subscribed (so long as you buy through item mall) I just trashed the idea of playing this crippled game.... |

Originally posted by zastroph Yea, it does suck. I have two high level 20 characters that I care about. About 6 months ago I was getting that MMO burn out and stopped playing. When I heard about the F2P coming, I'll be honest I was kind excited and hoped that I wouldnt lose anything on the characters I created. When I logged in the other day it wanted me to to choose the characters I was going to use since slots are limited. So I picked my level 28 and it told me it was a gold account character but can convert to silver account. Of course I didnt convert. I dont want to lose all those secondary powers and other things because of the limitation. So, not only did they screw the new free players (dont get me wrong, there should be limitations for F2P but not that strict), but they screwed the veteran players who started with release. They should allow the ex-gold members carry over what they earned. Since I already pay a sub on another game, I guess Cryptic will be waiting a long time for me to sub if I come back, because for sure I wont play the F2P service. |

Originally posted by Tardcore Thank you. This is first relevant post in this thread. Still, as you noticed, while they have issues using their own bandwidth to promote their service, they have no problems robbing potential customers of their own bandwidth; they went way too far with the download "manager". |

They do not have enough connectivity so all the bandwidth and then some is provided by the users, and to make it worse their download manager has no settings and prioritizes uplink, to the point the downlink becomes borderline useless. You pretty much have to leech the naive users of their download "manager" if you want the game, which makes it even worse for them. Now say sorry. |

Sorry but downloading and forums has nothing to do with the game itself, so flatout saying Champions Online Sucks seems like nothing more than flame bait. I havn't even played the game myself, so i'm no fanboi, but I do have a lingering interest and a thread with such a title should really offer atleast something about the actual game lol. |

someone who cant be paitent enough for a core install MMO to take longer than a hello kitty patch most likely should go to whatever web based MMO they were playing before.
All MMOs worth playing are going to take a long time to download and install and I am not even a fan of the game and i can defend that much does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |

Originally posted by zastroph This post was entirely unnecessary. The only evidence needed for CO sucking is it went F2P. I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath. |

Originally posted by Sanity888 Had the same thoughts, I mean how can someone say game X sucks as he hasn't even played the game. The topic title should have been "I can not get the game to download fast enough even though the game is free, perhaps any help? " that would be a honost topic, instead if trying to be popular and state the game sucks. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

You are all foolish to respond to this foolish thread and keeping it up in the "recent Forum Activity" list for everyone to see (and so am I, but I had to post just to say this: I actually LOVE CO. I subbed shortly after STO came out and loved it. The only reason I cancelled was because I lost my job (thanks Gordon Gecko, I hope I will meet you one day in a dark alley). But now that it is "F2P", I am LOVING it it again. It is a perfect game to relax after a hard (and intellectually exhausting) day at work. It doesn't need you to concentrate much and the graphics are spot on for a comic game. So there, for ever one of you out there, there is one of me.
PS: oh yeah, I hated the downloader, had to leave it on over night. But that's beside the point. |

Originally posted by zastroph Sorry, miscommunication. I didn't mean from a buisness standpoint there is no reason to try to turn these free players into potential customers. I meant considering Cryptics history of how poorly the treat their paying customers, why the hell would they care about someone who was getting their services for free.
