Been trying champions and I am finding it very repeittive the combat is awesome but all that does is remind me of the awesome combat you see in korean mmorpgs and spam the same 5 through 30 levels.

I remember having more at my disposal in cox, at the moment I am trying to decide if I want to spend the 40 bucks for going rogue and get 30 days free or not.

Anyways thanks all.

Power amount didn't matter much to me as quality. CoX had so many power that I liked it was hard for me to decide a route. In Champions they all felt more more or less the same regardless of different looks.

I did find champions to be much more boring that CoX. I couldn't even get to 30 before I was bored. CoX lasted like 3 max toons, and a handfull od lower level alts.

So basicly less, well I liked cox from what I saw and yea I agree it is hard to find a set for you, but there really isnt much to play, didnt like lotros classes just uninspiring and to little flash for my tastes content rocked though, eq2 nah soe is running it into the ground and its a bit to much for my random play times that and I do not want to play a mostly solo game, I prefer teams 70 percent of the time hence cox, hate wows community, not interested in mainly pvp focused games.

Guild wars was ok but again not enough teaming, and limited to only 6 7 abilities at a time, not interested in fallen earth just not itno the setting, we all know star trek online is terrible, vangaurd way to time consuming. So it pretty much comes down to cox I think, some notes on champions online though so far the content is more interesting but regardless of being able to have more choices, I have yet to see choices for what kind of genre missions we want to do and that is dissapointing kind of the point of a super hero is what villians he specializes in.

While it is interesting something is off almost shallow not to mention the graphics are kind of low on particles compred to cox while it looks better and packs more  umph when it hits the mob something just does not connect in the way combat is done.

Anyways that is just my opinion I am out of the tutorial and doing the desert as of right now.

It's difficult to compare. The way the powers worked is completely different.

COX: Power sets which you slotted. I found sometimes I had too many powers, and a lot of cookie cutter builds came up where you only slotted and used your max (best) powers anyway. I know my Super Strength Tank didn't even bother picking up/using a lot of his primary attacks as they were useless/offered little variation from powers I had already taken and slotted.

CO: The power system, IMO, is superior - certainly as far as customisation is concerned. You can create a character with any powers you want and aren't restricted to powersets like you are in COX (and DCUO it seems). It's difficult to balance, and you get owned in PVP if you don't take one of the better builds, but as far as allowing you to build the super-hero you have in your imagination..CO is the way to go. (Apparently power choices will be restricted to 'templates' in the F2P version of CO being released next year).

I played CoX for a good couple years and loved it and the community. I did get frustrated at the lack of depth though (no skills, no crafting, no stats, no loot). They've changed a couple of these things slightly, but not enough to keep me or make me go back.

I played CO and had a blast creating and playing as my character who I was able to customise to exactly how I wanted him. A few weeks after launch it was really quiet however, and I think I got to max level only having to/managing to group a handful of times, whereas grouping was where I had had the most fun in CoX.

I may re-play CO a bit when it goes F2P, but I'm just looking forward to DCUO now.

I am also looking foward to dcuo, but I also noticed that the game is bit on the easy side in cox you had to think about what you where doing mostly due to teaming and you had to be careful in this game there is not much strategic thinking required and in fact I do not think there is much strategy at all.

I feel this way too, nothing seems to matter in CO the gameplay never really changes only how long it takes to move forward, I never felt any of my choices of powers made any difference whatsoever, or were even needed, it becomes a game you quickly come to play on automatic becasue its such a curiously bland and pointless experience.

So in terms of numbers of powers I think CO has the edge (but both have a lot) but when it comes to meaningful choices and/or ones that feel in any sense varied CoH wins hands down.

Wow I am suprised someone else finally admited it, that is what I have been trying to say but they think cox is all cookie cutter builds and it is not even if you do pick a non fotm build you still feel meaningful with concept and grouping you find the uses for it regardless, in co people do not realize that the majority will pick dps in the end, why? Well because it is a solo game not manygroup oriented builds it is far from a mmorpg if you ask me in fact diablo 2 has better grouping then co.

Look at xmen legends and ultimate alliance grouping is even better there to sometimes being linear is better then limitless options to build a character unless you play darkfall or eve since there is not any real penalities except not being in the game long enough to compete with other players.

Cox is far from cookie cutter builds.

I always get the impression that many folk never really played City of Heroes or Villains when it launched and yes I know they launched at different times but I betaed and played it for some time. The reason I say this is that I see remarks about how shallow combat was and how you never really used much tactics in either game on many threads not referring to this one in particular.

I recall nightmarish Task Force where almost everyone had left leaving 3 or 4 of us to finish and how we used every trick in the book to finish it. Tough missions where we actually planned out how we were going to take a room. I guess things changed with time but City of Heroes and Villains was a both a challenging and intriguing game considering the game could be played without the traditional Holy Trinity. One of our best sessions have been with just one debuffer defender (radiation) and a controller with a scrapper. We rocked those missions and the game had so much depth in the combat more so than the ordinary game play of other games I am constantly amazed how people are blinded by the fact that they were all in  missions and dismissing it for that fact as being simple and lacking tactics.

That is one thing I love about coh, I remember it was kind of like this in the glory days of eq atleast from my bards prespective, but even more amazing in coh any archtype combination can truly work, yea some missions are easy also depends on the at combination but there are quite a few tactical missions people who say it lacks challenge and tactics never played beyond 20, 1-20 is nothing wait until the 30s that is when things get really interesting and espically task forces yikes, but very fun.

I am also amazed at how people are blind then again I am not, eye candy seems to easily pull people and then people will make up reasons why they choose this one over cox, and if you really want to be specific I think cox has more eye candy with powers then co.

Why spend $40 when you can get it for $10 on "Cyber Monday":

CoH has a ton of powers and is the better game.

Playing: Diablo 3, Tribes Ascend, Skyrim

Disappointed by open beta feedback: GW2
Waiting for: TSW

Imho, it is a matter of perception. Take cooldowns out from CoX powers and most likely players will end up using a few powers. It felt strange having to use aoe powers on single targets just because it was the only power available, since the proper ones were on cooldown. Attack chains were created because of that.

Rarely a CO power has a cooldown. Therefore, player use the power without more limitation than the energy that requires.

Another thing to consider is that CO there are charge, tap and mantains that gives different flavors to different powers.

While is true that currently CoX covers more power themes than CO like plants or earth, CO has a good set of frameworks and the ability of combine them give pretty nice combinations.

The only thing I miss from CoX powerwise are the controllish abilities, which are pretty strong in CoX and not that robust on CO(I am thinking on making the best controller on CO to check how far is possible to go there).

they are adding god powers on top old power in CoX. but CO is more arcade like then CoX so CO doesn't need alot UI bar full powers to be fun and enjoy gameplay.
