Hello, I saw this game is going free to play. I have decided to download the trial and go ahead and make a character to see how it is. I am unsure how the free to play model will work in this game. Will it be cash shop similar to Allods,Flyff, and Perfect World, or content shop like DDO where you buy quest? If it is like DDO can others, say guild members, buy guess passes to the pay to play content like in DDO. Anyways I am somewhat wanting to play a super hero MMO and am currently poor, till my disability gets approved, I plan on playing DC Universe Online for my PS3 eventually once my wife and I get more financially secure, so will this game make a good filler MMO? Thanks, Dustin †

Not sure how it's gonna work but I don't know of ANY other cash shop that works similar to Allods Online CS it's a Steaming pile of crap

I think it may be similar to DDO but slightly different

The F2P version will take a while before its "live" , its planned for 1Q next year.

It will be a mix of Adventure packs and other items that are not must haves but make live easyer.

THe main game will be F2P and you will find loads of content to play true, more then enoug to level your character to max.

The P2P and F2P diference will be that you have some restriction in terms of banking space , character slots and most importandly you play pre made classes (like wow,eq,cox)  while gold members (p2p) have no restriction and can pick any power from any power set they like and mix those toggeter to make there own "class"

Items you could pay for int he shop are things like custome parts, health and edurance refills , devices that grand a new power temporaly or perma (depending on version)

Once it goos Live im sure you be having lots of funs whit the f2p version.

Might even more so then DC seeign how limeted in comparison that game seems to be but thats someting time only can tell.

You'll finish the free trial in one night.

The trial is very short.

Like another said, the main difference in f2p v. sub is class v. no class. I really don't think this is a good f2p model. I think being classless and being able to make whatever hero you want is the main fun of CO. The content is fine, it has some innovative features, but really nothing that will blow your socks or tights off. Running the content with the hero that you always imagined when reading comic books is the awesome. On the other hand, the combat is pretty fun even on a standard build. It is more like a console fighter than most MMOs.

Even for free CO isn't worth trying. You'd be better off with CoH or preordering DCU.

Playing: Diablo 3, Tribes Ascend, Skyrim

Disappointed by open beta feedback: GW2
Waiting for: TSW

Let's be honest, the only people who are bothered by DRM are pirates. Companies have a right to protect their IP.

Go CoH/CoV its the same thing/same Company pretty much i.e. Cryptic but soup to nuts CoH is a little better IMO

The problem with your advice in pre-ordering DCUO or playing CoX is that you assume I have money for a subscription.. I do not. If I had money for a subscription I would play DCUO for my PS3 and do CoX while I wait. At some point in the future I may have money for a subscription, it all depends on when my disability finally kicks in. As of right now my wife and I are living off of only around 800-900(at the most) a month. This doesn't include any extra money for a subscription..

Not trying to be rude but I wouldn't really be interested in a F2P game if I could afford to subscribe to a different one but I can't. If we do have any extra money it will be to try and buy our daughter a Christmas gift. We wouldn't have the internet if it wasn't the only way I could actually communicate with people outside of the home and I use it for sermon research for work. Anyways thanks for the opinions etc. I have been playing the trial though with a buddy key. I am also using their future archtype power list for my two characters and they work out fine and are quite fun..

Thanks,

Dustin
